Swapping music on GTA

Now that ive read the thread about putting music on your Xbox HDD. Im curious if there's any way we can swap some of the music (wav) files on GTA VC.

I figure if its a wav file then it shouldnt matter. May just have to rename it as if it was never changed or somethin.

Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah I wondered about that myself

I was wondering beacuse the music you save is being transfered to wav so I am guessing then as long as the file your replacing is wav it shouldn't effect anything

I was then thinking could you do this with any game, beacuse I imagine thats what custom sound track must do point the music to be played from the files on the h/d

my question is why you would want to. The gta3 games are very small, you trying to put them to a cd?

My answer is:

I want to put my own music in the game. I dont care about taking the other music out. I already have enough 80's music.

Just thought it would be kinda cool to have some other music in the background of Vice City.

Well, gta3 supports custom soundtracks. You can always just use that, unless you don't want to put the cd's or music files on your HDD.

I dont think you understand what Im proposing.

Lemme try explaining this way. I would like to take one of the songs that is already in the game (Vice City) we'll call it Song A.

Then I would like to insert my own song something like Nirvana's Come As You Are and rename it as Song A.

That way Ive really done away with the original Song A and inserted my new Song A (Nirvana). Im just wondering if that will play correctly.

I am assuming that I would have to make sure the song that I insert would be a wave file or whatever. But I figure it would probably be easier to do than it would be for PS2.

You think this can be done?

I also meant to put this on a DVD not the HDD. Also while making an ISO of it by the way.

Ok, but Im still talking about wanting to do it straight from the DVD. I never use my HDD for anything except gamesaves.

I guess no one has done this before. I may try it with some DVDRW's.

I haven’t done this but I was kinda thinking the same thing you were. After looking at the sound tracks it seems all the "radio stations" are just WMAs. So you should be able to take your song and rename it to lets say EMOTION.wma So every time you were on the Emotion station your song would play.

And I bet if you had the right software you could edit them together and stick the song in there and it would be like it was there all the time.

Like I said, I haven’t played around with it but it looks like it mite be just that easy. I'll fiddle around with it later tonight and post tomorrow.

Well it is that easy. Its nothing like the complications that the PS2 would have given you if you were to change anything.

I was able to insert a whole cd into the game.

I converted all the tracks to mp3 merged them then converted them all to WMA. Changed the name to one of the station names in the AUDIO folder and then swapped them. Next I created my ISO as usual and burnt.

I played it far enough to get into a car change the stations to find the one I used. And whaddaya know, it worked. I heard the beginning to my cd playing.

You people may want to try this out on other games if youd like. I just thought since Vice City and GTA3 for that matter were nice enough to allow for different stations it would be cool to add my own music.
