Nero (or NEC 1100) not working

Hi!

I have been using RecordNow Max on the NEC1100 to make on-the-fly backups for PS2, and it worked fine and IS working fine.

I used Nero to burn many projects saved on the Hard Drive, and suddenly it has stopped working. Appears that the buffers are not working (???). If that were the case, RNM wouldn't work either, right?

What do I do? I just made 10+ coasters attempting different remedies, after having had NO coasters in the past.

If this is not the correct forum, would somebody please point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

on-the-fly = bad!!! make an image first, then burn!

wrong, the buffers are unrelated in terms of software, but ARE related in terms of reserving memory pools etc. if RNM is buffering correctly then its likely to be a problem with Nero, rather than the OS, drive or memory itself.

Are you using a *genuine* registration key? Nero has key blacklists...that's all i'm saying on that.

Try re-installing the program; which revision are you using? Nero 5.5.10.50 was the latest to be released, after that its version 6 (6.0.0.19 is the latest).
Have you run out of space on your hard disk? Have you tried rebooting *lol*, it does work in some instances...

This also happend to me sometimes ago, I've connected my writer and a harddisk to the same IDE channel and when I burnt a disk with nero from that harddisk, suddenly it stop working and when I moved the harddisk to another IDE channel everything worked fine.
so I guess you connected your harddisk and writer to the same IDE and the DVDROM to other IDE channel, so your on the fly burning works fine but image burning gives you coaster, specially if you have a 5400rpm HDD.

I have been using the burner for over two months now, with no problems. Burner and Hard Drive (7200) are both on the same IDE card.

I use "genuine" Nero 5.5, which came with the burner. I also bought Nero 6 (genuine) many weeks ago, but it was not intuitive, so instead of figuring it out (too busy), un-installed it, and have been using 5.5 with no problems.

I make images first for my DVD (movie) back-ups, then burn. For PS2, I couldn't figure out how to do this, either with Nero or RecordNow Max, so I have been using RNM for disc-at-once. I was under the impression that it DID make an image, then burned, then erased the image. I have not tested any PS2 backups yet, because my console is not modded yet.

Nero is now giving me a full 100% in the top wide strip, and nothing in the bottom short strip, which leads me to believe there might be a buffer problem. Also, when I say RNM is working fine, maybe it never uses the buffers in the first place.

Any help?

Read the backup procedures sticky. Making an image is explained perfectly.

I had that problem with nero 6, first it's read buffer became empty then the writer buffer became empty ( buffer underrun proof was enabled) and gave me coaster.
try moving your writer to another IDE port, maybe that solve your problem.

Thank you all for trying to help.

It was a bad spindle. Some media was good while most of it was not. By coincidence, when I ran RNM, I used the good media, and when I ran NERO, I used the bad media, confusing me completely.

I got a new spindle, and everything is fine!

As for bighap, I must be dumber than even my friends thought! I read the sticky about back-ups, and STILL am no better off. Maybe I don't have the right tools for the job.

-I have Nero 5.5 and 6. They don't seem to help.
-RecordNow Max 4.5. ditto
-DVDShrink 3.05. Wonderful at decrypting movies, but does not recognize PS2 games
-DVD Decrypter seems to want only to write to DVD, not Hard Drive.

That's all I got!

Maybe I need to buy software, or maybe there is freeware out there.

Further help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

You must be blind. Read the backup procedures sticky here. Scroll down to the RecordNow Max section. The first part titled "MAKING A DVD BACKUP FROM A PS2 ORIGINAL DVD GAME USING RECORDNOW MAX" is what you want to read. Good luck

I have no idea how I missed it when I was looking. Proves that even the most observant [ that would be me :-) ] can sometimes be blind.

Thank you for your persistance, bighap, in continuing to want to help.

God bless!
