Arakon is an expert. He knows this stuff inside out and was telling you, who was asking exactly what's what.
PS2 original games contain proprietary information in the pre-pit zone that Sony's pressing equipment can access. The ECMA 279 standard for DVD-R precludes the design of any access to this zone by common DVD devices; there is a parallel situation with CD-R device.
Therefore PS2s use proprietary firmware or software to extract and compare info from the pre-pit area (that cannot be read by noprmal CD/DVD readers and thus cannot be burned by the burners) so that the boot go ecision can be taken by the PS2.
Arakon acknowldeged the possibility that a firware rewrite that stepped outside international standards (which is what Sony have done) could get round this question.
So he isn't a bigmouth and doesn't deserve your outburst. Perhap you might apologise to him.
