It's an ASUS P5K Dab according to the System Information section, so Intel P35 Express Chipset I believe!
First thing, is the latest BIOS installed? Have you reset the BIOS to default settings and tried then?
Sounds like some program is sucking up the CPU time! Have you checked for rootkits? Can you see anything in taskmanager that's hogging the CPU?
It could also be recently installed hardware/software, windows or driver updates or some hardware problem. Might be advisable to take the side off the case and make sure everything is firmly plugged in/screwed down, the HSF is seated on the CPU correctly and the fan is spinning, RAM/Expansion Cards seated correctly, PSU Fan spinning and cabling firmly plugged in.
You could also install some monitoring program like Everest or Asus PC Probe II, leave it running while gaming then see what the CPU temp is after gaming!
It sounds more like a rogue program/conflict though!
