The CD's are not rented, so I think that's not the case, because there are no scratch marks.

I sit here in the UK just waiting for your next post! We'll wait to see if the very kind DAL is able to come back with anything. I think his Time Crisis 2 may be a rip (it is DVD isn't it?).
And you could look into the DVD drive - but we do seem to be moving towards taking the thing back to your #####r and getting his advice (unless he is useless and doesn't have a qualified geek that does modchips etc).
Did you put a capcitor in anywhere when you fitted your modchip?
