That's hard to believe. If you have a sticker on the bottom of the machine with a serial number, model number and such, it should also include the date of manufacture.

My label had five alternating panels of black, white, black, white, black.

The first panel is black with white text and has the name and model number (Dreamcast HKT-3020)

The second panel is white with black text and contains the warnings about electrical shock if the case is opened.

The third panel is black with white text and contains the FCC compliance statement (Part 15)

The fourth panel is white with black text - THIS IS THE PANEL YOU FIND THE DATE!!
It states the product compliance with DHHS RULES 21 CFR SUBCHAPTER J and at the bottom of that panel is has the date. In the case of mine it says:

MANUFACTURED: June,
2000 WK

The final panel (fifth one) is Black with white text and is the Patent information and the type of machine [NTSC, JAP, PAL, etc]

Now, re-examine your sticker... You'll likely find that the fourth panel (white with black text) states when it was manufactured.

If not, sorry, but we cannot help you figure out if it will work... You'll just have to try it yourself and if copies don't work for you, oh well...
