yeah its pretty easy and like you said well worth it.

The way I do it is by pushing pin 17 to one side gently while I heat the pin with the iron. I push the pin with an exacto blade. Then once I see the pin is loose from the board I wedge the blade behind pin 17 and the next closest pin and gently pry it up. When I have just enough room between the pin and the board I take my tweezers and lift it the rest of the way. I also us the tweezers to flatten the bends out of the leg once it’s parallel with the mobo. I then us my DVM to make sure the pin isn’t connected to the pad I just lifted it from or the next closest two pins. Then I solder the wire for the 5V source. Easy as that.
