To many variables for me to know for sure. A dead, and I do mean dead, laser could stop the laser from spinning, but seeing how its a v5 it's not likely. Also be very careful anytime you handle your laser. I have been informed that they are very static sensitive. Let me know how you make out with this as I have a v3 that I had given to me. I replaced the laser because I saw that one of the pots was broken. Now the only problem is that it does not spin. Best of luck to you.
