What is the best method to compress Unreal Engine games?

What is the best method to compress Unreal Engine games that comes with xxx-WindowsNoEditor.pak huge files?

Probably pzlib, but not always.

(pzlib)+srep+(delta)+lzma for ratio
(pzlib)+srep+(delta)+zstd/ultra for speed

pzlib didn't help, compressing "Downward" to 1XDVD5

Extract .pak, get rid of .pak, compress game then.

This tool is freezing in the middle of extraction, any alternative?
Tried already UnrealPak.exe from UE4 4.6 and it's giving errors, not sure if need the latest build of UE4 to extract it.

Freezing or crashing? If freezing, disable antivirus so that it doesn't interrupt you by constantly scanning files and go get a cup of coffee or two... or ten, just don't go into heart attack.

Finally managed to extract the pak and guess what, the compression ratio didn't improve a freaking bit!

I'm sorry to hear that. I guess it's just that particular game and its specific assets.

Saw someone else managed to make 1XDVD5 and even without unpacking the .pak file but he refused to say how, that what's making me chase the compression ratio for days now but i'm sure there is an extra compression algorithm other than srep and lzma.
Tried all the possible option with ztool as well and precomp still nothing and the size still above 1XDVD5.

try this
First tar archive with zero compression
Precomp with Intense mode on and no compression
srep
Nanozip the output file with -cc
it takes time but u will get lowest size possible

as i played with arc 7z bcm abc nz and all but best ration is always arc and nz occ 7z
