Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad DVD9 -> DVD5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the very first biggest greetz fly to yener90 'coz this conversion uses his installer. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: File needed can be found in Post #33 This method needs the conversion of *.bik files. It takes ~13 hours on [email protected] so be patient or just point to #6 KillerOh's post to learn how to make 2xDVD5 without converting biks. 1. Install the game 2. Download RO2_DVD5.rar, extract to TEMP folder Note: See Post #33 for file. 3. Go to {game's installation} folder Code:
move:Code:
move:Code:
archive name: data1.cab5. Code:
move:You can pause it and resume later. To do this click 'STOP' button in RAD Batch Editor. Let Bink Video Compressor finish actually converted file. Click 'SAVE AS...' button in RAD Batch Editor and save as 1#convert.rlst. Next time you run them, it'll start from next file. (If you must abort conversion immediately there is 2nd method. Click 'STOP' button on RAD Batch Editor and it'll generate "# Error returned:" message at the beginning of line with actually converted file. Delete "# Error returned:" text, click 'SAVE AS...' button and save as 1#convert.rlst. Now click 'CANCEL' button on Bink Video Compressor and answer 'NO' if asking about keeping partially converted file. You can run it lately and it starts conversion from last converted file. 7. After finishing conversion run 2#move.bat 8. Run FreeArc, compress the content of Movies folder: Code:
archive name: data2.cab9. Delete Movies folder, 1#convert.rlst and 2#move.bat 10. Make iso/burn content of RO2_DVD5 folder with any label Attachment 2644 Attachment 2645 Note: See Post #33 for file. |
WTF!? Gimme time to breath! XD
Too bad you don't have uploaded the installer yet. I'd like to test it! D= And btw, considering the way that Yener coded his installers, is it possible to do "2xDVD5" by: - Doing the 1st DVD by following steps 1-5 (Thus having all files but "movies" folder - That will be deleted anyway - and data2.cab) - Doing the 2nd DVD by following step 8 onwards (Thus skipping the BIK conversion) Or you made it not possible? :p Oh, and before I forget, it should be nice if you post the final sizes of the compressed ARC (renamed to cab :)) files and the final conversion. |
a new converter is born :D
|
Yes, 2xDVD5 will be available too and with much lighter compression (now data1.cab is ~5.6 -> 3GB, don't know for sure 'coz I'm on work now). I'll post details at home.
Point 5. corrected. Thx yener |
All fine! \o/

DVD9-2-2xDVD5 on the go! \o/

Sorry for "flooooooooding", but it'll be for a nice reason.
The installer worked fine in Win7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit Brazilian portuguese (OM*G!). But I've tested it by changing one line in setup.ini to "enable" 2xDVD5 mode :p In the 1st time, I did a terrible mistake by using the "windows" folder in my DVD2, thus "skipping" the PunkBuster and "UE3redist" install. Only noticed my mistake by reading the setup.ini again... I've tested again with the "windows" folder in DVD1 and now everything works again. However, the "UE3redist" has no "silent" switches, so we must "manually accept" the installer before going on. As an addition, it's possible to UNPACK the "UE3redist" with 7-Zip or Universal Extractor (WinRar won't work) to get the individual installers and use their respective switches. BTW, is there some "sound" to notify the "DVD 2 insertion"? Because I haven't heard any. The Background music is just so good (and a little loud too) to turn it off... BTW again, "Red Orchestra 2 - Heroes of Stalingrad" is too much big for a label (In autorun.inf). It only shows "Red Orchestra 2 - Heroes of Stal" in my PC. For those who aren't even a little happy to wait a fu**3'd time to re-compress all the BIK files, and as a "Thank you very much" for BAMsE's installer and Yener90's released codes, I'll show to you how to do the conversion in 2xDVD5 with no need to annoy anyone else - Not even peterf1999... ¬¬ It's time to do everything by your own, kids! \o\ Oh, before I forget: If BAMsE won't agree with this "modified" conversion post, please PM me and I'll remove the conversion. No, better, ask for Grumpy! :p Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad DVD9 -> 2xDVD5 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the very first biggest greetz fly to yener90 'coz this conversion uses his installer. And Thanks for BAMsE 'coz he did the conversion with teh codes. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Install the game 2. Download the RO2_DVD5.rar file from the 1st post, then extract to TEMP folder. You'll see a folder named "RO2_DVD5" in it. This will be our working folder. 3. Go to {game's installation} folder Code:
move:Code:
move:4. Now run FreeArc: (Download it here: http://www.freearc.org/Download.aspx ) Then compress the content of {game's installation} folder: Code:
archive name: data1.cab5. Code:
move:Code:
archive name: data2.cab7. Code:
move:9: Open the setup.ini file in the "RO2_DVD" folder. Now, search for this line: Code:
FreeArcFiles={src}\Data1.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:1|{src}\Data2.cab;DestDir:{app}\ROGame\Movies;Disk:1Modify the last "Disk:1" to "Disk:2". It'll look like this: Code:
FreeArcFiles={src}\Data1.cab;DestDir:{app};Disk:1|{src}\Data2.cab;DestDir:{app}\ROGame\Movies;Disk:210. After that, open "autorun.inf", then change: Code:
[autorun]Code:
[autorun]Now save the file. 11. Make iso/burn of RO2_DVD5 files: Code:
windows folderFor your 1st DVD. You can use any label you want. 12. After that, open "autorun.inf" again, them change: Code:
[autorun]Code:
[autorun]Now save the file. 13. Make iso/burn of RO2_DVD5 files: Code:
autorun.infFinal notes of advise: @ Step 4: As suggested by BAMsE in the post below, we'll use the "fast" compression (-m3 -s96m) for FreeArc , however you can use the compression you prefer. As long as you get a "data1.cab" with MAX of 4Gbytes (Or a Max of 3,99Gbytes to... by saying so, "avoid the hassle" of creating a ISO with UDF settings) will be fine. So, for everyone who:
@ Compression steps: You can make FreeArc save the compressed file directly in "RO2_DVD" folder. Just point the Path along with the filename. So, if you use E:\RO2\RO2_DVD as a working folder, then you can write: Code:
archive name: E:\RO2\RO2_DVD\data1.cabCode:
archive name: E:\RO2\RO2_DVD\data2.cabTo Remember: Always remember to thank Yener90 for the codes and BAMsE for the compiled installer. They did this nice job for you. ... And screenshots! Language selection (Doesn't mean it's the game language. It's just the installer lang. And it'll automatically select the language of your Windows OS) Attachment 2646 Using Disk 1, music ON. And yes, I've installed the "UE3redist" when it appeared. Attachment 2649 Oops! The setup is asking for Disk 2... :D Attachment 2650 Now running with Disk 2 and music OFF. :( Attachment 2651 ... And that's it! Another top-quality, "Games For Windows"-ready custom installer for all your gaming and backuping needs! Be happy, people! |
-m3 -s96m for data1.cab gives 3.77GB (packing ~15min, unpacking ~3min)

@up :D :D :D
I've recived the same few days ago. You packed data1.cab with original unins0000.* files. Delete them from archive |
First of all thanks for this conversion i am starting to learn more how these work
and i do have dvd9 blanks but i only like certain brands an they have not been availible as lately so dvd 5 is awesome DVD9 -> DVD5 works great after long conversion of the biks jus good i have a second pc to do all that work for me lol i edited the setup ini just for my language (english) as i never use any other under [InstallOptions] it shows Lang=cz,de,en,es,fr,it,jp,nl,pl,pr,ru,tr just pick your language so it shows Lang=en (english for me) or jus leave it an pick it when setup starts but myself i prefer it straight away |
You can even skip choosing the language by deleting 'setup.exe' and renaming 'setup.dll' to exe and it'll run in your OS language :)
|
BAMsE, Is necessary this line in the Setup.ini file?
[InstallSettings] ;External files on DVD ;CheckSource1=StarCraft II.exe ;CheckSource2=Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\base.SC2Assets ;GDFBinary=gdf.dll Or you can delete without any risk to the installer fails? |
the ; at the beginning of the line, basically says to 'skip' this line ( its actually commented out by the ; at the front ) so deleting the line will make no difference to the installer itself, it deiregards the line altogether.

6. Install RADTools, go to RO2_DVD5 folder, run 1#convert.rlst
You can pause it and resume later. What to do you tell? |
