all files (except folders) in the root to 'FNV_DVD5\Binaries' folder4) Re-encode all mp3 files in 'Music' & 'Sound' folders to a ~ 60 kbps bitrate and then move both folders to 'FNV_DVD5' folder (you must keep the original sub folders structure) 5) Launch FreeArc and then 'compress' the following files in the Game's installation folder: Code:

more info would be nice ..
steps 3,4,5 what sizes did you achieve for each step ? ( so that users can see if what they've achieved is close to your actual numbers ) Much like your RFA Conversion.. we have NOTHING to compare what we have achieved against what you've done. ( I've tried 3x, different ways of re-encoding biks, but have as yet to be able to have the biks + game folder archive FIT on DVD5. ---> 4.67GB is smallest size yet, game folder without the biks is ~3.8GB ) hopefully peter reads this AND posts additional info for this conversion & RFA !!! hint-hint |
Surely it's nice we can re-compress the games in a single DVD, despite we need to
- Uncompress the ARC SFX file - Then "Un-Srep" - Then "Un-PreComp" - And finally Uncompress a uncompressed ARC SFX file to install the game. However, there are some people (like me) that don't want to do all that mess (3x Recompressing, .BIK re-encoding) just to fit the game in a single DVD, yet they'd like to have such nice installer for 2xDVD5 backups, like your "Black ops" custom installer. Considering it uses files named "FNV_1.arc" and "FNV_2.arc", just like we have "CODBO_1.arc" and "CODBO_2.arc" for Cod-BO custom installer, can we use this custom installer for a 2xDVD5 backup? ** EDIT 1: Plus, for this conversion, it's just the normal game (Updates at most, but no DLCs), or there's any DLC included in it? |

Maybe you have a multi version, delete the foreign languages! About RFA... the source videos folder size is 2.67.gb, only with videos resampled at ~45-50% of original ones it will fit on dvd5: e.g. Code:
others game files (RFA.arc included)= 3.05 gb |
@peterf1999 I think the same KillerOh thinks. Why don't make 1 DVD with freearced game data and another one with freearced biks? I know, that you're trying hard to get best ratio original:converted but this goes mad ;P
|
peter must be banging his head against a wall right now in frustration :p
When peter releases a DVD9 to '2xDVD5' conversion, its not long before people start asking for '1xDVD5'. And when he releases a 1xDVD5 the people want a 2xDVD5 version. Poor bloke cant win :D Nice work again to Peter. ;) |

EDIT - But this is important! =X
Peterf1999, I've downloaded and run your custom installer (without doing a single step of the conversion itself). That's how the menu looked here in my PC: Attachment 2592 Attachment 2593 This happened because I've changed the "text and elements size" in "Video resolution" advanced options (In Windows Seven SP1 x64 Ultimate) to 125% of original size. When restored to "Normal" 100% size, everything becomes normal with your installer again. Of course, as I've used your custom installer without doing the conversion, I've reached the "setup error" screen. However, in this screen, the "close" button in the top of windows (Yeah, the X button) DOES NOT WORK. But only in this window, as I could test. Attachment 2594 And yes, this screen was taken with "Text and elements size" set to 125% of original size. That's why there's no "About" and "Finish" buttons in the screen. They reappear after maximizing the window. There's no "button disappearance" nor "Exit button not working" in any another installer pages, only in this one. Not that it'll happen if one follows the conversion steps... :D Quote:
Maybe because his recent 1xDVD5 conversions requires too much work. This one is a very nice example: - Resampling BIKs (Which takes a HELL of time) - Resampling audio files - Create an uncompressed FreeArc file (1st .ARC) - Then "PreComp" - then "SRep" - Then a true compression with FreeArc - Then pray that everything is working, otherwise... T-T However, I asked about a 2xDVD5 conversion for this one because it uses TWO .ARC files, like the CoD Black OPS conversion he did: Quote:

Sorry KillerOh, i wasn't having a go at you, i was just stating how peter must be feeling. :)
I do know its hard to please everyone, and I can also understand people like variations and choices, they also like things to be easy and fast to do. My comment was just a general comment, not directed at you though. ;) |

To talk the truth, after someone who I know have tested a 1xDVD5 backup of MoH 2010 (From Peterf1999 too, and it uses FreeArc + PreComp) said that the install time was very long, I've dedided to stick myself for 2xDVD5 backups for every time I read "PreComp" in peter's conversions. Yeah, I'm lazy as hell. :D Also, as I quoted twice, this conversion uses two .ARC files, whose names ressemble the ones in CoD Black Ops custom installer. So it **could** be possible to use this installer for a full (non-reencoding and non-'compression-from-hell') backup for 2xDVD5. That's what I asked to peter. |

However here it is ;) Code:

@peterf1999 don't cry bro. There are always a few children who want more and more candies ;) Great work, as always. Thanks.
PS: if you have enough time maybe you can do this with Hunted conversion? |

I can understand why peter would get frustrated, in almost every conversion he's written someone always asks for the opposite of whats posted. I think to myself if you dont like they way its posted then burn it to dvd9.....;) |
Idea! Idea!

No, seriously. By the ammount of times I've compiled your custom installers, I've learned how to compile in InnoSetup itself. :D And by doing this, we can "tweak" (Or, at very least, TRY to tweak) the installer to fit our needs. Already did it once for your F1 2010 custom installer, and these are my results:
Consider that my InnoSetup knowledge isn't that big, and even yet it's not that hard to know what requires changing - Even for building a custom setup for another game. ...And to finish it all! :P Quote:

Hei peterf1999, can you send the Script file that you used to make this Installer, cause im studing the codes with Precomp, SRep, 7Z and Free Arc files with ISDone, but all that i found its in russian foruns :(
Please, help me. Thank you, and sorry for my english, i'm braziliam |
EDIT: I'll use this post and ask for the scripts used in this installer too, Peterf1999! XD
Of course, if possible. If not, oh well... :D Quote:
EDIT: Oops, my mistake! This one seems to NOT use IsDone.dll, but includes built-in support for PreComp and FreeArc. That should be enough. Unfortunately, my "googling" by "ISdone.dll" leads me to... eh... Carribean? ¬¬ BTW, try these installer examples as reference: http://fileforums.com/showpost.php?p...7&postcount=11 The "Xenus 2" custom installer uses ISDone.dll. I don't know how these scrips can help you, but try these too! http://rghost.net/users/shegorat/ As it contains the codes of the NFS Undercover custom installer: http://www.freearc.org/screenshots/f...-innosetup.jpg Maybe it can help you somehow... For now, that's the best help I can give to you. Good luck, and greetings from Brazil too! o/ ... But before I forget, all the links I posted here came from "russian forums" as well, so there's no excuse. =P~ Some of the "source codes", as I said before, comes with a very basic DOCumentation file (I forgot if it's PDF, PPT or DOC... but it may be in russian too ¬¬) and... to talk the truth, unless you want to TRULLY LEARN the codes and//or modify the unpacking scripts, it shouldn't be that hard to just "modify" the right parameters (You'll search a lot, yet there are just a few parameters to be changed, as I could notice in peterf1999's F1 2010 script) and BANG! New custom installer on the HDD! And I know nothing about pascal. :P |
