Hi I have 2 problems here. the first one is with Sony DVD DRU-880 drive that I bought no more than a month ago. and LG drive which wont read/write DVDs but works fine with CDs. for the record i have 4 burners in my pc 2 on IDE chennal and 2 SATA. i have a core 2 duo 3.6ghz with 2gb ram win 7 32bit.

Sony DRU-880
It worked fine up-till now but today as it was beginning to burn a dvd via nero 10 it failed giving "power Calibration error" after which it wont spin any disc at all. I even tried plunging it to a different power and sata cables within the chassis but nothing. Its in warranty but i was wondering if its fixable.
Details for nero infotools is attached

LG GH20LS10
My LG drive wont Read DVDs or write to DVD for some reason. I tried playing around with laser adjustment thingy for little bit with the help of multiment. i reduced/increased the resistance but didnt get any thing. it rearly reads seletive disc such as my original bad Company 2 dvd9 or few empty dvd-R but wont write or fails in the middle. IT works totaly fine with CDs,burning and read has never been an issue with it but i dont know why would it work with DVD discs.

I have never updated any firmwares of these drives

It may be exactly the old firmware: it doesn't support newer media. Also see http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm.

I updated firmware of my LG drive from FL00 to FL01 but its the same. and as for the sony drive i returned it and got HP DVD1260r instead. its half a minute slower than sony when burning dvd5.
