Cant Patch COH Opposing fronts
 

hey all

I want to patch COHOF for more balanced gameplay, but got 1 problem.
I downloaded patch 2101 for it but it said that i have an unrecognized version installed on my pc, and it ends the program :S (I had it freshly installed afterwards, but still the same)
anyone have the same problems, or knows a solution for it?

This is a known issue, better buy the Game original ;) it's not expensive and it's worth it.

You can't apply a patch under a cracked executable.
Relic uses their own patcher similar to RTPatch used by EA.
The executable is patched only where it need to be. If the position isn't founded because the executable you have is cracked then the patcher will refuse and you get that message.

Solution: re-install the game. Apply all patches & Play!

... which is what that particular entry in the FAQ says. ;)

Thats not about it, it's true what you said, but in this case, you can't update properly.

Even if he patches without crack to the latest and then put the crack in, it won't work, that's what i wanted to say.

I mean: is it exactly the inability to patch the game that proves that the game is not a genuine copy (i.e. is warez?)?!

Don't know where to start but here I go:
The official download page doesn't have patch 2.100 to 2.101. It jumps from 2.100 to 2.103. But you can grab it from sites like "worthplaying" (I just check that :))
The only one there is from 1.701 to 2.101 but it's only for the vanilla CoH. Can't be applied into CoH:OF.
Since the OP never talked after the inital post (only god knows why) we can only make assumptions here.

Even with a warez copy he can patch. Afaik, in GCW you have a crack til patch 2.301 and in the instructions it says to apply the official patch over a full installation (of course you must install a serial of patches: 2.100->2.103, 2.103->2.201, ..., 2.300->2.301) but it will be patched.
However, he may has a wrong version or it's already patched and he doesn't know.
We'll never know if he doesn't talk.

One thing I laugh at was the "I want to patch COHOF for more balanced gameplay". LOL!
The patches in strategic games comes from feedback in multiplayer not in campaign unlesss you have a serious problem. I had a hard time to get some medals after patched the game long time ago in vanilla CoH. To get those medals I'd reinstalled the game and play it without a patch and get the medals easier.
The patches for any CoH games are intent for multiplayer not singleplayer.

Anyway.. he can buy the game through steam (e.g.) @ 15€ or in some shop as retail for similar price.
