USB Disk
Whenever I have USB drive plugged in, laptop wouldn't post as soon as I remove it boot sequence initiates. Anybody had a similar 'feature' on a VAIO laptop? Here's the trick, every possible USB functionality has been disabled.
I personally believe it's a nasty bug and not the feature. The laptop in question is VGN-C2S/L. |
Or your boot settings is set to boot from external device first. But as you know USB supplies power to devices so could be a power issue.
|
Every possible USB functionality had prior been disabled including external boot options.
With regards to the power issue, I don't think that's the case as it happens regardless of the power source available. To make one thing clear, I'm talking about pen drives here. Unfortunately I don't have the tools nor the desire to debug this issue further and Sony technical support is not very helpful. What's worse I have a habit of leaving my Cruzer's in every port imaginable. |
I know its a pen drive your talking about, and you can boot from them, but besides power is sent to the USB slot to the device plugged in and could cause fluctuations in power.
|
Could be but very unlikely. I can't boot off usb pen either.
newsflash: I just plugged in a 2.5" usb hard drive and it booted fine with it, so it's clearly not power fluctuations but like I suspected a bios limitation/bug. Thanks for your input though. |
Just routine check, go to your bios and check if legacy usb is on AUTO or DISABLED and change it to ENABLED, sometimes having it on AUTO can make problems with pendrives.
|
If you just bought it, and it doesn´t work, take it back.
