Baldur's Gate 1 Geforce 8 Fix and Nocd?
Hi there,
I've got 2 questions concerning Baldur's Gate 1 and Tales of the Sword Coast. 1st, does anyone know if there's a fix for the transparency bugs that occur with Geforce 8 graphic adapters ? (black squares around birds in 32bit mode, no matter what other settings are set, working well in 16bit, but with poor performance only, the only real solution is to completely disable Dxdraw in Dxdiag) Are there any experienced Hex-coders here that can edit the executable to make it working properly with new graphic cards? 2nd, does anyone know how to play Baldur's Gate 1 without the CD in drive? |
I saw this on some other sites as well and besides some ridiculously old forceware drivers the other option seems to be buying a radeon card.

Agreed, old games do weird things with new video card drivers... (E.g. I can't play Blood 2 or Sports Car GT anymore on my current PC... :( )

Did you tried with the DirectX8 patch installed and in compatibility mode? I know that up to GeForce 7 series, that worked for me...Didn't test it yet on my GeForce8
|
I found this fix. Can't remember where.
"reduce graphics to 16 bit and activate "software standard blt". It was working for me on Baldur's Gate 1&2 And Icewind Dale 1&2. I have GeForce 8800 GTS 640Mb. |
As an alternative, if you have Baldur's Gate 2, you can use either the Baldur's Gate Trilogy mod or Tutu to run BG1 using the more advanced BG2 engine (BGT combines BG1 and 2 into a single epic adventure, Tutu imports BG1 data into BG2 - you still need to import/export your character between BG1 and 2).
The Widescreen Mod can also be used to run BG1 and 2 at higher resolutions. |
