Problems with Company of Heroes: OF v2.301 Crack

Hi Guys,

Having problems with the latest COHOF v2.301 Crack/Patch. I've followed the instructions using the two archives but it just seems to hang saying "Verifying Media".

Anyone else getting the same problem? Or got it working?

Thanks!

Are you sure you've replaced all the files? It seems (part of) the copy protection is still there...

Speedsurfer 25-06-2008 02:29

Yes I'm pretty sure, here is what I did:

Downloaded fdx-c211.rar and COHOF-2301.rar, extracted both archives to the desktop.

I copied the RelicCOH.exe from the archive COHOF-2301.rar to C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes

I then copied the rs.dll from the archive fdx-c211.rar to C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\validators\rs

Both original files were backed up and replaced as decribed above, operating system is Windows Vista.

Also if I leave that "Validating Media" message up long enough I get a "Could not Validate Media" notice.

I've also noticed that on minimizing there was a Microsoft Windows message saying "rs.dll has stopped working". Problem details are below:

Exception Code: c0000005

memory exception error - try turning off DEP for the game if you have it enabled... this error is typical of packed executables or 'odd' executables that try and execute code in areas not marked as executable...

Speedsurfer 25-06-2008 02:54

What is DEP? How would I go about seeing if it is on or not?

Thanks!

Try this: replace RSPA\RSPA.DLL with the cracked RS.DLL (change the name to RSPA.DLL) you have in the RS folder.

Worked perfectly! Thank You! It now validates instantly!

Does this mean the instructions on the site are incorrect? Or is this just a solution if the standard way doesn't work?

As for DEP, I did find out what it was and try turning it off for COH before I tried the above suggestion, but it didn't do anything.

DEP = data execution prevention :)

nando2002 25-06-2008 03:37

I just point you that solution because the error message you posted indicate RSPA.DLL (this means, the RS.DLL is calling internally the RSPA.DLL).

Have fun.

Ah I see, I guess it was good that error happened then.

Indeed, I selected the option to turn it off for the COH exe but that didn't help.

nando2002 25-06-2008 04:35

Lets say: yes.
Don't know if it's related to the new patch or not. In the beginning (v2.100) wasn't necessary, but since they change the folder in the last patch I guess they may change somehow the media validation and now 2 DLLs must be replaced instead of 1.

I can't install CoH:OF now to test (lack of HDD space) but as soon as I can I'll try with the crack and see what happens.

Has anyone gotten this to work? I installed COH:OF, ran the updates all the way to 2.301 and replaced the RS.DLL and RelicCOH.exe files. I get this when I try to launch the game:

weird error message - seems the update was not successfully implemented - file not updated.

have you copy rs.dll to the rspa folder & rename it to rspa.dll?

Yes, I tried that. I also downloaded the June DirectX install to make sure everything is up to date.
