Unreal Tournament 3 [ENGLISH ONLY] (DVD9 to 1x DVD5)

1 Attachment(s)
UNREAL TOURNAMENT 3 : DVD9 TO 1xDVD5 (ENGLISH ONLY)
=============================================

I COULD EXPLAIN IN DETAIL HOW TO DO THIS CONVERSION, BUT ITS TOO MUCH FILES TO LIST & TOO MUCH TYPING, SO I HAVE SUPPLIED THE NEEDED FILES. YOU NEED TO HAVE THE PROPER APPLICATIONS INSTALLED OR THE CONVERSION WILL NOT WORK. THE INCLUDED RAR FILE IS CALLED: Attachment 1115

APPS THAT NEED TO BE DOWNLOADED & INSTALLED FOR THIS CONVERSION ARE: ORCA & POWERARCHIVER, THE REST IS INCLUDED. (Orca 2.0 or Later, PowerArchiver 10 or Later)

NOTE: The conversion can be done on any Physical Drive, but HAS to to in the root, eg: C:\UT3_DVD\ or D:\UT3_DVD\ .Make sure you have enough free space on the drive you going to use, as this Conversion needs about 15GB to perform. All mention of files or labels using 'Quotes' must NOT include the quotes.

<1> CREATE A FOLDER ON YOUR HARD DRIVE IN THE ROOT CALLED 'UT3_DVD' (C:\UT3_DVD) & COPY EVERYTHING FROM YOUR ORIGINAL UNREAL TOURNAMENT 3 DVD TO THE 'UT3_DVD' FOLDER OR FOR THOSE THAT HAVE ALREADY MADE A 2xDVD CONVERSION, COPY BOTH DVD'S TO THE 'UT3_DVD' FOLDER.

<2> DOWNLOAD & EXTRACT THE SUPPLIED RAR FILE TO THE 'UT3_DVD' FOLDER. OVERWRITE FILES WHEN ASKED.

<3> OPEN ORCA & IMPORT THE 2 SUPPILED FILES.
ADD THE FILE 'Media.idt' BY IMPORTING IT INTO ORCA.
TABLES -> IMPORT TABLES -> MEDIA.IDT -> CLICK MEDIA -> SELECT REPLACE -> OK

IMPORT THE FILE 'File.idt' THE SAME WAY AS YOU IMPORTED MEDIA.IDT
TABLES -> IMPORT TABLES -> FILE.IDT -> CLICK FILE -> SELECT REPLACE -> OK

REMEMBER TO SAVE THE MSI FILE BEFORE CLOSING ORCA.

<4> RUN THE FILE 'ut3dvd5.bat' FROM THE 'UT3_DVD' FOLDER & THE CONVERSION WILL BEGIN.

<5> WHEN THE CONVERSION IS COMPLETE, YOUR 'UT3_DVD' FOLDER SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING FILES IN THEM.

0x0409.ini
1033.mst
Autorun.inf
Data1.cab
Data2.cab
Data3.cab
Data4.cab
Data5.cab
Data6.cab
Data7.cab
Data8.cab
Data9.cab
DotNetFx.exe
FrameworkCheck.exe
instmsiw.exe
ISSetup.dll
Launcher.exe
NetFx64.exe
Setup.ini
SetupUT3.exe
Splash.bmp
Unreal Tournament 3.msi
Unreal.ico
WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86.exe

<6> BURN THE CONTENTS OF THE 'UT3_DVD' FOLDER TO A DVD WITH THE LABEL 'UT3_DVD' & ENJOY A DVD5 CONVERSION. FINAL SIZE OF CONVERTED DVD = 4.33GB

USE THIS CONVERSION IF YOU WANT OR DON'T USE IT, JUST SHOWING THAT IT CAN BE DONE.

These Instructions can also be found inside the RAR archive as ut3dvd5.txt
This conversion may be uploaded to both GameCopyWorld & CD-2-DVD

And, before someone would ask how to integrate the crack into this, the game is unprotected and needs no crack to run without the/a DVD. ;)

Yeah, the conversion does delete all the Non-English files, and video files are downsampled, audio is left intact, but the Non-English audio files were also removed from the video files.

Yes. And how big is it, when it is installed?

Size is roughly about 5.9Gb

This conversion is designed to downsample the video files (might get rid of the non-English languages as well). It's a five step process...
1) Extract data from .cab files
2) Extract audio from video files
3) Downsample video files
4) Mux the audio to the new video files
5) Recompress the .cab files

I'm only guessing that's the last two steps of the process, because he's not kidding when he says it takes a long time. It's been running around, oh, 7 hours now on a 2.8GHz Dual-core, and it's halfway through downsampling the 7th (out of 8) video file.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

blubberblub is right on the mark, and it does take a long tome to downsample the BIK files, they are downsampled to 20%, but are still clear.
It was the only way to get this onto 1 DVD.
I played with this conversion for 3 days until I got it right, just wanted to show that it can be done, but sacrafices have to be made.
Use it or don't, the choice is yours, I just did this for fun :)

The cab files are already set to maximum compression inside the bat file.
I had to make use of PowerArchiver's command line utility and txt files for each CAB file because of the sequence it installs inside the MSI file. Just compressing with PowerArchiver's windows version, compresses the files with a messed up sequence, and when it installs, says it can't find file XXX & YYY... I just got home now, so i'll squizzle through the files to see why & what & etc etc etc...

Tha-Viper 15-01-2008 09:31

Also, the cab files are not ISCAB format, they are MSCF format, will play around with compression & stuff to see why the MD5's don't match up.

without usying powerarchiwer

Found 2 new command line apps to extract & recompress the CAB files without using powerarchiver, testing them & will inform if it works & does not corrupt the files, keeping the MD5 in tact.. the problem is that the CAB files are multi-volume (Data1.cab & Data11.cab) Data1 extends to Data11, and not many apps can extract multi-volume cab files, powerarchiver could extract multi-volume, but I think that is what corrupted them, I found another command line app that i think might work. Lets see what happens :)

Tha-Viper 16-01-2008 13:35

ok... i seem to have found the problem as to why the cab files are becoming corrupt & make the MD5 checksums not match up... Having to recompress the CAB files to fit on 1xDVD, i had to use the LZX compression instead of MSCAB, and that is what is messing everything up.. i recompressed the files using the MSCAB compression and got no errors at all, except ofcourse for the downsampled BIK video files.. only problem now is, the MSCAB recompressed files are 4.7Gb ... 300Mb bigger than a DVD, and this is a problem :/ so i can now do 1 of 2 things... downsample the BIK video files even more... or compile a new installer using LZMA compression.. downsampling the video files wont work very well, as the already downsampled files are at 400Mb, cutting 300Mb off that will leave us with 100Mb video files, and that will look really bad, so i'm going to go with the compilation of a new installer.. expect to see a new conversion shortly.. I am not giving up that easily :)

ravd and i used lzx 21 [maximum available conversion ] and crc match with orginal

Can you make separate bat files for each cab file. Thinking that it would be troublesome for some people with less harddrive space and time consuming doing every cabs in straight away. Would be better that way so people can do compression and downsampling to different cabs when they want to.

Compression should be made with makecab, shouldn't come any mismatches after recompression, expect with edited bik files.

Here is my example for Data8.cab+Data81.cab

Firstly added this in your data8.txt before filenames
Code:

.OPTION EXPLICIT
.Set CabinetName1=Data8.cab
.Set DiskDirectory1=
.Set MaxCabinetSize=0
.Set MaxDiskSize=0
.Set InfFileName=del.me1
.Set RptFileName=del.me2
.Set Cabinet=on
.Set Compress=on
.Set CompressionType=LZX
.Set CompressionMemory=21

Edited your bat file and left all steps about Data8 files (New Data8.cab is left in Data8 folder)
Code:

@echo off

title COMPRESSING FILES TO NEW DATA8.CAB FILE
makecab /f data8.txt
for /f "skip=11" %%I in (data8.txt) do del /F "%%I"
del del.me1 del.me2

pause

Best way would be to make similar bat files for each cab files and make one cleaning bat witch you can use to delete unnecessary files after compressions

Hope this helps

Lets see what happens :)

Winzip/Winrar extracts multivolume CABS for me without problems. I've always used CABARC with LZX:21 compression and not yet had any CRC errors?

I do things slightly different to most people, I use Winzips 'View > Sort > by Original Order' option to view the CAB file list as they were originally created then I print it out via M$ Offices Document Imaging printer driver and copy/paste the filenames to my 'list.txt' file then use CABARC! If the filenames are too long I print out in Landscape mode instead. Not once had a problem doing it that way, more steps involved but it works for me!
