360 Drive Flash or Chip
1st.
Im just starting to mess with the 360 And want to know what is the better choice either a modchip or flashing the firmware on the dvd drive? 2nd. if a chip is better is there anyone in the norcal area who can do the install? Thanks Magic:D |
Hmm, well, it is basically the same thing. The only difference is that the chip will either patch the dvd firmware on the fly, or bypass the dvd drive's firmware with the one housed on the chip.
A chip is much safer in that you will only brick your drive if you install it wrong, but there is no difference in functionality yet. Sorry, I dunno about installers for your area. You should keep in mind that there is now a method to downgrade the kernel on the 360 to an exploitable version. Meaning a new type of chip will likely be released in a couple months that will allow unsigned code, or at least make it easier for you to get that ability. It will probably cost the ability to play on xbl though. |
I agree with Quall999 here, there's no real difference between them. I chose to flash because it was cheaper. Same functionality so..

It appears flash is cheaper.

????
Oh lordy |
Beats me. After 2.5+ years, I guess MagicBullet can now rest easily, as well as the others who posted 2+ years ago in those other threads.
|
Well the flash is cheper than modchip but modchip is best for Xbox 360 games According to Xbox Scene, the new 256MB chip will allow to install the entire new NXE dashboard without requiring the hard drive or any external flash memory unit.

I think iXtreme Firmware is the best solution.
