Civilization IV: Warlords v2.13 NoCD
Hi everyone,
It's strange that no group in the scene has released a NoCD for Civilization IV new patches (1.74 and 2.13 Warlords). I decide to download the patches and search for the reason. After comparing files, I realize that Warlords 2.13 has the 1.74 internally and the only difference between those 2 are here: ***** Civ4Patch1.74.TXT 05-21-2007 22:51 212067 AR__ 33025 21 Readme.htm 05-21-2007 22:51 233915 AR__ 36080 24 Readme.htm 05-21-2007 22:51 229488 AR__ 36248 26 Readme.htm 05-21-2007 22:51 209510 AR__ 34353 29 Readme.htm 05-21-2007 22:51 232764 AR__ 36550 32 Readme.htm ***** Civ4Patch1.74_Final.TXT 06-27-2007 13:05 211895 AR__ 33016 21 Readme.htm 06-27-2007 13:05 233673 AR__ 36103 24 Readme.htm 06-27-2007 13:05 229272 AR__ 36193 26 Readme.htm 06-27-2007 13:05 209211 AR__ 34299 29 Readme.htm 06-27-2007 13:05 225068 AR__ 35323 32 Readme.htm ***** The Civ4Patch1.74_Final is what u get from the site and Civ4Patch1.74 is the one that comes inside the Warlords patch. So, if you have the NoCD shipped from "Reloaded", then you doesn't need nothing more. Sorry about my English. I think that talking about this is not violating the forum rules. Nando2002. |
If you wanna play the Warlords scenarios or mods based on Civ4: Warlords you need the original disc.
Civ4 Warlords(like Beyond the Sword) it's using a different exe file. The protection was updated on that exe file also. That's why so many requests for crack. |

I based my study on the Patches. I opened both, extract anything inside them, create a list with i6comp. Now, I think that if people install patch 2.13 but don't install Beyond the Sword add-on they should be OK for play. Now, If you open the Data1.HDR (from the Beyond the Sword add-on) with any editor and seek for warlord EXE, you won't find it. |
I bought both Civ4 and Warlords (about US$40 each), and both disks are in perfect shape. Unfortunately, the local distributor included some buggy cd-checking routine in the Warlords CD and after patching to 2.08 months ago it stopped working, and gave a (false) message like "insert correct CD/DVD". Luckily, I was able to get the 2.08 no-cd .exe from GCW, and could play again.
Now that 2.13 is up, I tried patching and got the same error message again. Until a no-CD .exe for 2.13 is out, I won't be able to play the updated version. That's what I got for supporting the local software industry. I can only hope that eventually they'll provide a fix. I went to their site and discovered that months later the international patch was released, they have a fixed official 2.08 patch. Therefore, I'd be very happy if a 2.13 no-cd or fixed patch could be made available. p.s. oddly enough, no such problem with the "vanilla" Civ - 1.61 and 1.74 run fine. |
"vanilla"?
If your having problems like you are having, the publisher is your best bet to talk to, they may help you with an updated exe file that will still have a CP on it but may work with your hardware you have. |
vanilla=original game (not the expansion pack)
When I had the problem going 2.08 I sent them a message which they replied to acknowlegding the problem which they were working on to solve, with the original publishers. Apparently they eventually did it months later. :( Now I sent them another message, but got no answer yet, which means I'm probably out of luck for a few months or until the no-cd .exe is available somewhere else. |
