hey guys
i'm just getting into the 360 modding scene
i have taken my 360 apart and found it has a HITACHI-LG GDR-3120L drive

i have just bought a xbox 360 usb so i can flash this drive.

what is the most up to date firmware available for this drive. and what tools would i need to work in conjunction with the x360 usb device to enable me to flash the drive,

i know i'm a old hat around here but as far as the 360 goes i'm a complete newb.

You are in the UK, correct? You should look at this drive for your PC:
Samsung SH-D162C. There are hacked "Kreon" firmware so that you can create images with that drive, instead of using your 360's drive.

Next, you should get Xbox Backup Creator v2 to use with that drive.

I know you have a Hitachi drive, but I think the firmware is split up between drive versions. Like there is version 32, 36, 46, 47, etc... Newer firmware may support them all but I don't know for sure. I haven't gotten around to modding my drive yet.

hey guys it's been a while lol real life just got in the way. i come here just about every day but with the time constraints i have i usually don't bother logging in.

i'm gona get a drive to put in the pc eventually but for now i have gone down this route.
have got this x360 usb device by executer it hooks to the usb port of the 360 and to the sata port in my pc it allows flashing etc

any one tried one of these ? and if so what software works with it and which firmware is best to use
i know there are a lot of questions but i have searched thoroughley for the answers and just keep running in to a brick wall every one i ask seems to contradict the person previousley so i thought the best place i'd get honnest unbiast advised would be the guys and girls here.

been a tough year mate

i have been pretty ill with phneumonia just got out of hospital 5 weeks ago i also lost both my best mate and my brother in car crashes in the last few months. so been kinda down but hey things are looking up and i have pulled my self back up on my feet.
i working again hence the bloody stupid houres i tend to keep and waking up every day is starting to become bareable again.

other than that i'm well.

any way i'm not here to bring you guys down with my woes back to the 360 .

No its me. LOL. For the past two years my whole life was a total mess I don't want to get into. Nothing illegal, but legal related. A whole mess thats taken about a year in court to get fixed, costing ungodly amounts of money, as a result two out of three of my business failed.

I figured I would have been pulled from a mod a long time ago, but than I realized I still get emails about reports posts on here from time to time. Never really thought much about it though. I’m still here, but not “here” if that makes sense.

Well, I am sorry to hear that. I just hope you got most of that worked out and have a bit of a less stressful life.
