ata & power cable
I have found a site that sells ata166 cables for xbox. They also have a 5 device ata166 cable. This is the link, http://secure.llamma.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=64_27
I am also working on a tutorial for using parts from an old compuetr power supply box to allow one to supply power to multiple devices(multiple=more than comes w/ xbox) |
Just shove any old 80-pin IDE cable in there... I can confirm it speeds stuff up from the HDD no end (I was running a Maxtor 80GB).
I did this to mine back in the day with a spare 80-pin IDE Ribbon I had and instead of video being choppy and slow, it was like Baileys dripped over a freshly waxed bikini line, lol :D ;) Don't know about improvement on the stock drives, but it's worth a shot I suppose... |
i was just putting a link up for anyone that needed one that allowed a lot of devices
|
A five device ATA cable?
Sounds like a scam to me. Master and Slave only, no way you can use more than two. |
sidney, seeing as my friends grandpa has a 12 hard drive comp, I dnt think it is a scam. I also have a comp that allowed me tohave a second hard drive, ,main hard drive, and a disc drive. The cable has 4 hook ups, three to drives, and one to motherboard, so i dnt think a five device ata cable is far fetched
|
IDE devices allow for only two settings, Master and Slave.
CS wont help either as the BIOS in ALL pcs only allow for Master and Slave devices on any single IDE port. Scam. |
i may have portrayed the 5 device ata cable incorrectly, its has 5 connectors, one to the motherboard, one to the dvd drive, and three extra ones for other drives.

here is a link to the information about ithttp://secure.llamma.com/catalog/pro...products_id=89, also how do u add a title to a link than just having the url itself?
|
To give "names" to URL's - and a lot of other things -, use vB codes.
|
Also, the xbox power supply can only produce so much power. There is no need to add any more than 1 extra power connector for the system, unless you are going to use very low voltaged devices.
Even if you only have a Cold Cathode connected, the xbox might display an error on boot up due to the fact that the hdd/dvd drive does not power on fast enough. |
for the power cables i only added one or two more connectors, so it would not make much of a difference, i think I only did this so i would be able to use additional hard drives or disc drives with the xbox
