Battlefield 2142

I downloaded the game, but when everything was installed I had to make an account to play. Because I downloaded the game, the ea server doesn't accept my cd-key. The problem is that he seems to be making an account for playing online, but I don't want that. I just want to play single player offline. I know it's probably a stupid question, but I hope anyone can help me. This is my hardware:
Asus A8N-SLI SE
AMD athlon 64 3200+
XFX GeForce 7600GT XXX
1024 MB PC 400-3200
