Xbox boot Disk

Hi,
I have been told of a disk that can be used in a similar way to the action replay on the ps1, using a disk swap trick to play backup games instead of modding the xbox.
I was told that the info about the disk was on this site but i havent had any luck finding it, and me being me i have forgot what it was called.
Can any of you guy shead any light onto the situation?
Cheers.

I don't think so mate...
I think you may be a little confused over the functioning of such discs. You can indeed create an Evolution X boot disc and boot your Xbox to a hacked dashboard yes, but only if you actually have a softmod or a modchip already installed. Such discs can be very useful for recovery purposes as they allow you to FTP into the console if for some reason you can't do so with your dashboard or firmware of choice.

As I say, if you dont want to solder or purchase a chip, then you can 'softmod', but there really is no substitute for a decent modchip.

I think he might mean a softmod.

007:AUF, Mechassult, and Splinter Cell have hacked gamesaves that boot an external bios loader application.

You need to start these games, load the hacked save, and then you can boot to any backup. However, 007 takes about 3 minutes to start and it can get annoying.

You can do a softmod that is booted from a dashboard exploit. That would eliminate the disk swap, but can be a bitch if you do it wrong. There are some automatic installers though. They are derived from the hacked saves mentioned above. You need to load a hacked save to install it.

You also need a way to get the hacked save to the xbox dashboard. This is usually done with action replay...They put the save on the memcard and copy it over to the HDD.

Ok, so in order to softmod an xbox i need a copy of 007, the software off the internet, a usb mem stick and crossover cable.
Is there anything else?
Also how do i connect a usb stick to the xbox.
Thanx
Neil

If you are going to connect a USB stick to the xbox, you need to mod a USB socket to the controller (that would be easiest). You can also mod the sockets to the x360, but that is not as easy imo.

Look at this site after you do that: http://xboxsaves.com/MXK_HW_Guide.htm

You don't need a cross-cable to do a softmod. The savegame installs everything for you. However, using the save as a boot disk would be more stable than a dashboard exploit. I suggest you mess with that first as it is easier.
