Philips Drive dodgy?

my xbox has evox/avalaunch on xecuter 2.2, now evox reports most of the times as "no disc" wenever a dvd/cd is inserted, some times it does get it and i'm able to play but most, no. Is the drive broken? is it software?

Sounds like your reader has read to many discs.... ;)

I doubt its anything software related, probably your drive going down... :(

damm, and they aren't cheap either :/

Quall999 07-08-2006 05:34

No they aren't. Almost a rip off :(

My thompson drive had died as well. Or rather, it reads very badly and randomly gives dirty disk errors in games (backups and originals). The only game that doesn't is Halo 2 (maybe because it is mostly cached?).

I never replaced it though. I have an upgraded HDD and play off of that. The drive works to stream the game to the hard disk, and that's all I need it for.

yeah i'd do that if that was the case, but unfortunatly, i can't even do that :(

you handy with a screw driver?
you can buy replacement lasers for them they look pretty simple to install and cheap i need one too because my thompson drive doesnt read dvds anymore.

Another solution would be this,
get a standard PC DVD-reader. It will read all your backups if you have a modchip. Unfortunately it wont read originals so perhaps it won't help that much... :(

but the power supply conector isn't the same kosmiq

kosmiq 09-08-2006 04:45

Oh yes, get a Y-splitter cable for the HDD power connector (one of these) and use one for the HDD and the other for the DVD... :)
