NEWSFLASH!!! 360 Hack has been done!!!!

Here is a video where you can see a open 360 booting a copy of Project Gotham City. http://rapidshare.de/files/15810304/360hack.mpg.html. The hack has been done through the firmware of the 360 dvd drive. More Indo on www.xbox-scene.com

Granted that looks cool and all, i'll still be the first person to say there could be another 360 connected to the input/output plugs on the back of that tv witha legit versio of PGR3 in it.. Just saying is all.

Nah, I believe it. It's not like the video is his only proof. There are many threads of information on the drive's firmware. There is even a retail modding group that is backing it up, also stating that the firmware will be released soon. However, it is too risky for me. I like xbox live, I am not getting a mod until there is a switch to easily turn it off.

same here i have read tons of threads on some of my old hacking group sites that i was on when the first xbox was originally hacked this firmware hack has been around for a few months now but like quall i like live too much and i'm not risking it till you can disable to mod to play live safely

How would the firmware update be done? And an xbox live update could probably kill it all together right?

Quall999 20-03-2006 09:37

They can probably do some kind of SA-1 hash check, and see if it was altered, but a "hidden" firmware update is not likely. Other than pretty much destroying the dvd-rom of anyone who accidentally powers theirs off, it cannot be done without the users consent (legally).

There are many privacy issues. MS does not own your console, signing onto a service like xbox live does not give them the right to alter your hardware without you knowing.

they can try to do an hash check but the drive will return the value so it can probably be spoofed into the correct hash code will be given back to the kernel.:p and I agree its unlikley that they will do an hidden firmware update its to risky MS screwed the protection up again, very funny

Team xecutor had released info on their newest product, which would allow you to hook the dvd-drive up to your PC and flash it with an easy-to-use utility :)
