should I upgrade to the new 7900gtx?

Is it worth it to sell a 6800 to upgrade to any of these? They all
support 2560 x 1600 resolution and hdtv compatible.
xfx geforce 7900gt or gtx: probably best card out there
xfx geforce 7600GT: similar to above only not quite as good and less
expensive

Remember not all Monitors support that resolution, make sure yours does first lol

I think you should wait until some real tests gets done and some real comparions between this one and the X1900XT.

Thanks for the warning peeps

Well its released now and I would seriously consider the X1900XT over the 7900GT. Why? Because I haven't seen anything about 7900 series being able to handle HDR and AA (as the 7800 couldn't handle either, but the X1800/1900 can).

No what I mean is... HDR and AA at the same time. Perhaps a little unclear there. Thats whats bad with the nvidia gfx's. No idea if 7900 series supports it though. The 7800 does not atleast.

oh fair enough : D

Isnt this actually a problem caused by the drivers or bad software implementation of HDR and AA ?
IMHO this should never be a hardware problem, it should be fixable by 'improving' the drivers, in case this is possible :)
If NVidia is not able to handle such, well ... important stuff, they're not really professionals in what they do...
Well, I tend to use ATI whenever I can, they are slowly coming back to the quality and performance they had about 2 years ago when they 'reigned' the market, these days (unfortunately) NVidia does.

kosmiq 23-03-2006 17:33

Well for the 7800 series it actually is a hardware limitation. However it is most likely due to the fact that HDR is very new and was only in development when 7800 was released.

As for ATi's cards it is about how the HDR rendering is implented. As for Oblivion ATi can not run HDR and AA at the same time due to HDR being implented the "wrong" way for ATi's cards.

It seems as if the 7900 series can handle HDR and AA in oblivion atleast.

the grudge match between 7900GTXSLI vs X1900XTXCF said Radeon support HDTV and AA with high res ...

Somehow I think you meant 'runs' things on higher quality. :D
