starforce 3.6 finally beat?

hey i just saw today on nforce.nl that one groups managed to crack a SF 3.6 protected game from ubisoft (rainbow six - lockdown). does this mean that finally someone found a proper way to defeat starforce and end this "drive-unplugging comedy"? maybe they'll cr..ush also other sf 3.6 protected games?

TippeX 14-02-2006 02:12

the drive unplugging comedy as you call it is related to using clone images, not cracked executables..

using a cracked executable obviously does not require you to disconnect ide drives etc..

using a clone will...

read the faq please

I can only say , that 3.5 is beaten :-)
IF you have image of 3.6 version than e-mail me

what i meant to say is - someone finally made a working .exe file for a starforce 3.6 protected game, which means that sf was defeated. it means that running a game from your own image (made from your original cd of course), which was impossible without unplugging the drives, can now be possible thx to such .exe files. this is the first ".exe-file" for ubisoft's sf3.6 game i've heard of. and it's good news i think :)

Than it only means that it was cracked one of the protected games , but it doesn`t means that it will works on other 3.6 protected games!
By the way do you know how the St works , when you not familiar i will discribe here (100 % legal description)

First the starforce read cd and check the sectors if they have a proper Angle
Second, after the collected data, starforce send it to interpritator, this interpritator cryp the data and send in the language which only ST virtual machine can understand , after all of this if the collected data was not right than ST virtual machine send command to abort the start of the programm

The only one question is , how to get to this virtual machine ? :-)

And as i know its allways new way to get there, so don`t await that sombedoy can produce cracks in 0 second for this protection :-)

Yeap but what do you do with updates to your game, i think its only temporal
solution, because in updates will be new version of protection so that hackers
must again repeat all higher described points.
The only one way to manage ST without any problems, is to try to create 100% backup, and of course its possible, just check this site during the week and you get your answers.

Is it just me, or is the deviance crack just a fixed demo exe?

Joe Forster/STA 14-02-2006 09:33

According to http://fileforums.com/showthread.php...405#post311405, yes, it's been made from the demo's EXE...

MontyBurns1985 14-02-2006 09:44

Rainbow Six - Lockdown is not the first StarForce 3.6 game published by UBISOFT that has been cracked, Brothers in Arms - Earned in Blood (UBISOFT) also has StarForce 3.6 and it was cracked quite fast after its release!

Joe Forster/STA 14-02-2006 09:50

Hold your horses! If Deviance's release comes from the demo's executable then it's only a "cheat", not a crack in the real meaning: if an update comes out for the retail version that also changes the game executable then Deviance's method won't work, they will have to actually crack the protected executable of the retail update.

Deviance ? Do they still exist ? I thought they were gone the time Hoodlum was busted ?
Well, seems they still exist :)
Theres one thing that kinda scares me:
If Reloaded gets busted, who's gonna crack all the games ? There are several other groups that can probably do Nocds for SD4 but i assume Reloaded will try to keep their way how to crack SR7 and SF3, so they wont spread it anywhere because of a) competition with other groups (that actually do not exist anymore) and the problem that the SF developers would try to fix anything that makes reversing the games possible :P

@ Joe:
There might be one advantage:
I'm not very well informed about that topic, but it's probably a lot easier to "recrack" it, since you have an unprotected executable and can compare it with the other one...
so with the help of the original, unprotected exe it could be easy to make a proper crack for a new/updated exe :)

Deviance exists in name only. They even changed the nfo layout. The only thing they have in common with the old Deviance is name, and nothing else.

BTW RLD is doing SD4 cracks due to a hole in the protection that can be easily fixed anytime, and is left open due to the developers stupidness. Do not expect many SD4 cracks from them unless the developers continue being stupid, or unless RLD finally crack SDAPI at its best.

kosmiq 14-02-2006 13:42

From what I have gathered the Deviance crack for Rainbow Six Lockdown is proper (aka not Demo.exe). BUT they seem to have used the demo.exe in order to get some hints on how to remove starforce from .exe file.

And yes the now working deviance is only deviance in name nothing else.

qrpiech 15-02-2006 03:22

they should also try to crack other sf3.6 games - glory awaits for those who succeed:P
