Xbox won`t power on
 

Hello,

it`s bin a while since I came here. My friend gave me his box yesterday saying the thinf won`t turn on anymore. I plugged it in yesterday to see for myself but the box just booted up fine. This morning I tested it once more and now the box is completely dead!!! I checked the power supply and poer button. They seemed fine. I also checked the CPU and that one lookes not fine. There is a dark somthing around the core. Could the CPU blow up? And if so why did the box turn on yesterday?

Most likely is the power supply or a blown "something" on the mobo. I have a similar problem on mine.

Unplug the xbox for about 10 minutes, then plug it back in and see if it works. Unplug it long enough for the time to reset and see if it boots up.

I have had this problem with SEVERAL boxes and frankly it always ends up with me buying a new box completely or just getting a power supply....I headr MS is dropping the price to like $3.00 for the xbox soon.....I may have misplaced a decimal or 4.....But seriously....It sounds fried...Just buy a new one and gut and then take it back....Wait ....your in Holland....No Walmarts....Uhh I mean exchange policy....But you do have Amsterdam close buy so who cares.... -)

I decided to sell the good parts of the box and buy a new one. The price will drop to 100$ so here in holland the box will cost about 100 euro. If I sell the dvd drive I get 50 euro`s for it. I sell the casing for 20 euro`s. Only too bad I didn`t unlock the HD.
