Silent Hunter III No-CD and Starforce

Can someone advise me if the No-CD crack for 1.4b eliminates the installation of the Starforce drivers?

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

Bär

I think you get the drivers installed when you install the game, and a nocd is applied after you installed the game, so techincally the nocd doesnt do anything about the drivers.

rendari,
Thanks for the reply.

Actually the Starforce drivers get installed only after you run the SH3.exe file (or the mission editor file) the first time.

I am hopefull that this No-CD will stop the Starforce drivers from installing.

Cheers,

Bär

If that true, then yeah, they should stop the SF3 **** from installing, since a nocd technically removes the enire protection.

If the announcement at cdsteam is true then the current versions of SF will soon be history...it looks like they have totally disassembled SF and rebuilt it
I don't fully understand it, but it looks like some co-op between cdsteam and RLD :)

Hey that could be true... Some of the RLD could be associated with CDSteam or the reverse. It is great to see Starforce getting cracked from time to time but I still think there is a few things left to do.

Does this work for the US DVD version?

The nfo file says to use the EMEA patch.

It worked for me with the US DVD version.

Yeah, the CDSteam stuff looks extremely promising. They even say they have an automated p-code rebuilder. Sweet *drool* :P

BTW you can manually remove the SF drivers:
go to windows dir\system32\drivers
the SF drivers begin with a sf, (sf[...].sys) but not all sf....sys files are StarForce. You can see it if you point at them with the mouse and there's an info about the driver. there should be something with Starforce help driver

Thanks for the info, rlsuth.
