PS2 not turning on

Hi guys, i'm new in the ps2 work and i'm looking for help.

A weeks ago i bought a second hand ps2 (already equipped with a matrix infinity modchip), everything was fine until last night: when i was playing with some friends suddenly the game freezed i reset and played again but it freezed again, this time i turned it off and changed cd but the ps2 didn't turned on, the led became green for a fraction of second and then go back to red. I disconnected the power and waiting a while (maybe it was overheated) plugged again but the problem remains.

Any suggestions? If u need other information tell me please.

thnx for any response

It may be a loose wire on the mod. You'll have to open it up and take a look inside...

thnx, going to check right now

while you're there, also check that no wires or the chip are touching the metal plates over the board :)

i checked the ps2 and everything is ok... someone has told me that it could be the safeguard system that has gone in short-circuit and keeps the ps2 in standby. it's possible?

try checking the power fuse that is located on the power board. Ot is possible that the power fuse blew. believe it or not it happens.

If that had of gone, you wouldn't even be getting Standby...

Sounds like it could be a 'PS'xx fuse on the motherboard. :(

well first of all what is a PSxx fuse? (sorry for my ignorance)

second, i heard rumors it cuold be the reading lens that could be gone, and the failsafe system don't let the ps2 turning on, possible?

anyway thnx for the answers

xx denotes any number.

The main board fuses are called 'PS' fuses, i.e. PS3 / PS13 etc. They are like small black cubes, and it is likely one of these has blown.

The laser has absolutely nothing to do with this type of problem - it's on the mainboard fuses somewhere if nothing is grounding...
