House of Flying Daggers?
Anybody else having problems Backing up House of Flying Daggers?
I use DVD Decripter, Nero 6 Ultra, CLone DVD 2 |
What kinda probs are you having? Have you tried Anydvd?
Tyler! |
I can get it to decript, with a file it is replacing with what I beleive is called a dummy file? But then my dvdclone 2 freezes while it is loading the file. Nero says it will burn it but it will more than likely have errors on it so i havent tried that yet. I have backed up many other movies with no other probs and this is weird that this one is giving me probs.

Have you read my post from earlier. The movie has crazy protection. AnyDVD will take care of it and my backup works fine. Just for informational purposes, when I backed up this movie, AnyDVd said that it had Arcco protection, a Puppetlock, 5 bad sectors, some weird autorun thing and something else. It was a lot of protection for a movie that wasnt as good as their previous film...Hero.

I got the message: "Invalid file size" "0SUtill0 [Wstring]" On the preview screen
then get the "unexpected error" when I click 'GO' to start copying I'm using CloneDVD v2.5.4.3 and AnyDVD v4.1.0.1 Is this mean I need to update again? :( updated to AnyDVD 4.5.6.2 and Clone DVD 2.7.5.1 and still can't make a back up...( got pass the first error and now get new error message instead) |
Man, thats nuts i didnt think it was that great either, but it gave me so many errors and wanted to create dummy sectors and then my burner program freezes up while loading the movie from my HD. Crazy........
But I backed up hero just fine |
Latest version of Anydvd has no problem backing this up. You should turn on your "remind when update is ready" option.

I'm still getting the same "Invalid File Size" error message w/ CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD v. 5.1.1.1
|
Dunno man I had no probs with the version of anydvd just before that one. Maybe a bad disc?
Tyler! |
OK I upgraded my CloneDVD2 from version 2.5 to 2.7 and it works now. Thanks!

Havew you tried DVD Shrink. It will compress the movie to a size smaller than 4.7GB. Usually here are the steps I take:
AnyDVD (runs in the backgroung) DVD Shrink (to shrink the ISO) Burn with DVD Decrypter (or your favorite ISO burning program) |
I am using cloneDVD 2.8.2.1 and AnyDVD 5.1.1.1 and I can't burn. I am pretty sure the disc is fine because it's brand new.
Media is CSS protected! RCE protection not found. Found & removed wrong DVD structure! Structural copy protection not found. Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD! Found & removed 4 bad sector protections! Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1! Skelaratus I read your other post too, but AnyDVD isn't catching all the locks you mentioned. I think that could be the problem, but my AnyDVD is the latest (5.1.1.1) wonder why it works for you but not for me. Did you uninstall your old version before reinstalling? I get a VOB read error (data error: cyclic redundancy check). Anyone get the same problem? Tyler could you tell us what shrinking/burning combo you used? Edit: I've finally succeeded by using Decryptor to extract to hdd, then shrinking/burning w/ cloneDVD. I think the reason anydvd/cloneDVD worked for some but not for others is that Sony made different kinds of discs w/ different locks. I'm only speculating, but i can't think of any other logical reason. |
Well I dont think Sony puts different locks on their DVDs, but they may mix it up by region, who knows =o) But I usually rip the DVD to my hard drive with DVD Shrink. AnyDVD runs in the background, so no need to do anything with it. After DVDShrink goes through I take the ISO and burn it with DVDDecrypter. There were a few times when AnyDVd wasnt as up to date to catch all the errors. In that case use VOBBlanker. That will rip the DVD to your hard drive and clean up the VOB files of any protections. Then after that you shrink it with DVDShrink, and then burn it with your favorite ISO burning program. I keep all these tools available because you never know what Sony will throw at us next.

just get the Edko edition to backup if all else fails.
i made a perfect backup with the Edko edition just fine. i would also suggest using DVD Shrink. that's a good program. |
