How do I edit out commercials from a T.V. program?

I used a home DVD recorder to tape some of my kids cartoons for him and was going to try to edit out the commercials and put the shows on his PSP. I think I know how to get them to work on the PSP but I'm not sure how to edit out commercials. What program works for this?

Depends on what format the shows are in. I'm not sure what is compatible with the psp.. I assume maybe even has its own format. windows xp movie maker can do a decent job of editing and cutting that type of thing.

You could probably also go to downloads.com and get a trial version of some software. Some are even free. Do a google search on "free video editing software" see if it comes up with anything.

MP4 is compatable with the PSP. I have figured out how to convert any type of video file to that format and put it on the PSP in MP4 format but I have never edited a UDF file from a home DVD player before or any other format for that matter. I can convert the file to whatever I need but editing bits and peices of a video file is where I need help. I'll have to figure out what type of file Windows Movie maker accepts becuase it doesnt seem to take MP4, Divx, or UDF files, It could be that I'm doing something wrong though.

I think movie maker may only accept avi base files (no compression) and wmv files of course.. But yea editing can get to be a pain with conversions and what not.. Hope you find something that works..

VirtualDub might do the trick.

Search for it in google (It's freeware) and take a look at some tutorials while your at it.

Pinnacle studio 9, sure will, its a total all out video editing program, u can just add the whole movie, then just cut, out all the commercials. you can also clean up the video if ya want. then click Make Movie, and it renders it to just about any format you wish.

I use the program constantly, with my video camera, and other things.. :D

theres a demo on the pinnacle site, it is a large download so make sure your on highspeed.
