btw, regular users aren't supposed to be able to make cracks (i can reverse a jump condition, that's about it). If it were that easy, companies would make it so that it's not that easy.

And I Suppose Title Case Is Less Annoying Than ALL UPPER CASE.

If your serious then learn ASM basic to advanced.

Learn each op code and how registers work and stacks.

If you dont do this, then you can kiss the idea of doing it yourself goodbye, there is no easy way.

What Your Mean From ASM Basic To Advanced. :)

Basic ASM, what some math operands do, the working of registers and stacks.

Like

MOV eax, 4301h

Moves the hex value 4301 into the eax register

SUB eax, 10h

Subtract the value in eax, by 10 hex (10h = 16 decimal)

JMP ********= unconditional jump to address ********

to

JNE ********= Condintional jump to address ******** if result from a previous operand proved to be false.

For example

CMP eax, 50h - Compare the value in eax register with the value 50h
JNE 0048FF21 - not equal to 50h? then Jump to this address, or....
XOR eax,eax - clear the value in eax
JMP 0049EA2B - then jump to this address

To make it a bit easier to understand a simple basic proggy for the example above.

IF eax<>50h (greater or less than)
GOTO to_first_addy
ELSE
LET eax = 0
GOTO to_second_addy

But then it gets increasingly harder when you introduce other operands like

FSUBR
MOVQ
SAR
etc etc

Its not that straightforward.

Most of the crackstore tuts expect people to have some knowledge of ASM, which most dont.

Plus a lot of those links are now dead! Even if the links on the fileforums page work the next site you get sent to the links dont work there!
Most at the Krobars site still work tho. ;)

If you dont have more than some knowledge of ASM then forget it.

Or spelling.

I do have more, I guess you didnt read the post before.

But most of the tutorials on crackstore, are basic with easy "bad boys".

Then coming up to unwrapping well you do need more for that.

yah, such a common request, I skipped the middle.

It would be nice if crack groups would notate their cracks, but then someone would steal 'their' cracking methods. Still, if each crack came with a cracking log file, there would be alot more people attempting to emulate them on other titles.

if less people knew how to crack, then it is easier (for the crack groups) to crack..
if more people knew how to crack, they would make it harder and harder and that's not in anyone's interest.

Doesnt matter how many know how to or not how to crack.
