HD Loader vs. HD Advance

Hi,

I saw the two product that are very similar.
1. Do you know which one is the better one or what the differences between the two are?
2. If I have one of those, would I be able to load both domestic(US) and import(JP) games to HD or do I have to have a mod chip installed to be able to do that?
3. Are those pretty good/reliable?
4. Do you know where I can get a HD for Japanese 15000 PS2 (preferably a big size HD)?

Thanks in advance.

To answer your questions

1. HDLoader any day...HDAdvance is crap plain and simple
2. you'll need a mod chip to install imported games
3. I don't know what are you asking here...more info please
4. Just look around computer shops and get peferably a seagate hard drive (HDLoader will only read the first 136gb of a big HDD, unless you download the HDLoader upgrade thingy - i don't know what it's callled...someone on the boards will help you there)

Hi,

Thank you for yourinput.

3. What I was asking was whether most games work with this device or not
4. Can you connect any HD for PC into PS2? You don't have to have an official Sony HD? Isn't Network adaptor also required to connect HD into PS2?

Thanks

Just one additional question. Does HDL work with PS1 games?

spedmetal 09-01-2005 23:14

3. Most games do work with HDL look here for a list of supported games

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/casey.m...patibility.htm

4. HDL wont work with the first 3 JAP PS2 models SCPH 10000, SCPH 15000 and SCPH 18000. These models are referred to as V0's. HDA is just a rip off of HDL so no it wont work either. I dont think those models even have a expansion bay for the network adapter do they? They had that external HDD didnt they? I once saw some Japan's producer that was promoting a HDL type of disc that would work with your version PS2 and I believe you had to use the official external Sony HDD. If I come across a link I will post it.

Look here for what HDD's will work with supported PS2's and HDL

No, HDL wont work with PSX games.

Found it!

Here is the link, all in Japanese of course, but with woo in your name I'm sure you can read it :)

I have no idea what it says or even if its working or released. Maybe you can tell us.

EDIT: Here is a translation, well kind of

Thank you for all the great info.
I had one concern. Since HDL project has stopped ,and they don't really produce it any more, wouldn't the compatibility be lower for the new games that are coming out, which may have anti-HDL scheme implemented?

TylerDurden 10-01-2005 09:09

Possibly.

But there are still quite a few new games that dont have problems with HDLoader. The only one Im pissed about is Kuon.

Sorry to open an old thread.
As sped suggested, HD loader may not work with Japanese console.
Would it still be true if the Japanese console was chipped?

Thanks
