Game backup size question (newbie type)

Hi guys

I am totally new to XB's and have a quick question of the newbie type, on game sizes.

I am waiting for my XB to come back from the guy installing my mod but want to know what types of sizes games are (yes I have seen the sticky) and how you go about burning the large ones to DVD if a DVD-r only hold 4.37GB

I am planning to do the following when the XBOX gets back:
1. FlashFXP files from cdrom to my PC's hard Drive
2. Use Craxion4 to create the xISO
3. Use Alchohol 120% to burn the xISO

sounds simple enough I think but the sizes are what worry me

any input would be greatly appreciated :)

Some games that are too big can have files removed and replaced. Like demos, movies, sound files. Some games that cannot, like Enter The Matrix, canbe split into 2 dvds' Half the game on one, the other half on another disk.

Also most games fit onto a standard dvd-r disc so you tend to not have to get too creative when backing up the original.

Most of my game backup disks are multi disks, with 2 or more titles ..
so game size as a whole, should not be an issue ...

Thanks to everyone who responded

I have been doing some playing around with boxplorer and creative tools and worked out that to shrink a dvd you can usually rip the other languages.

Been playing with craxtion to make multi game backups, looks pretty sweet.

A couple of other question you guys may be able to answer:
1. Is there a better way to eject the cdrom without my unit going back to M$ dashboard (or is it a faulty mod chip), i read mention of a open and close util for XB but havent been able to find a link for it anywhere.
2. Is there a way to bypass the auto boot from CDROM?

If your xbox resets when you eject the cd-rom; then either you are using a really old set of bios, using a new set of bios but put the eject-fix disable file onto your HDD, or you are using a modchip that is set to reboot the xbox on eject.

I have an Aladdin Mod

What is the eject fix that I can stick on my HDD? Where can I get it from?

Eject fix is what it is called when you press the eject button and your xbox does not reset. Thus, the word eject and fix. It is something that is located in the hacked bios.

x2 bios have a file to disable the eject fix and the in game resets. If you did not put any files onto your hard-drive, that came with downloaded bios, then chances are that it is not the problem.

What app do you use to copy the games from your xbox to your pc?

Beleidat 03-01-2005 16:37

If I dump to XB HDD first I use either DVD2XBOX or Complex Tools. The first time I use either of them and have it waiting for me to insert a disk the XB will reset, the next time it's fine and will eject normally without a reboot.

If I am going straight from XB DVD drive to PC then I use CuteFTP (FlashFXP kept freezing with XPSP2)

thanks for all of your advice on this too!

So it does work on a second try, just not the first? Hmm,I am not sure what to say. Did you do the power mod where the chip boots on eject, and the original bios boot with the power switch?

Beleidat 04-01-2005 13:37

No I didnt do the power/eject one, When I turn on the XB I hold down the power for a second longer and wait for the amber light instead of green.
