no video in movie files?
I have an ati 9700 all-in-wonder. I updated the drivers and then tried to use the tv tuner (which worked fine before). I only got audio, the screen was left blank. I then spent a couple of hours unistalling and re-installing older drivers thinking that the new drivers were the cause, since it only happened after I installed. Unfortunately, that did not work.
Well, i tried to play a comedy movie I downloaded from ebaums world. To my surprise, I only got a black screen with the audio playing fine. I then tried to play any of my dvd-rips. All with the same symptoms. Anyone else have this problem? I can no longer watch any type of movie format, but can hear the audio in them just fine. Maybe it is a PC setting? I am not sure. Any help would be appreciated. EDIT: ok, i just tried a .vob file and those played fine. My decrypting software and player are ok for dvd's. But that is all I can actually view |
ok, after spending hours on it, I finally have gotten the problem solved. First, i uninstalled every ati related solfware. Including all drivers. I restarted my pc for a fresh gfx driver start (btw, the videos played fine after I un-installed them all). I then restarted my PC and re-installed the complete MMC and gfx driver software. After do that, videos played fine until I started up the TV-tuner player.
ANyways, ati made a new "catalyst control center" software to manage their drivers. Everytime I went in the "video" tab, it was greyed out (would not let me access anything). So, I had to turn on any file player and it all became accessible. I didn't know that video had to be active in order to change the player settings. Well, I to change the video preset and all worked fine. What a pain to find out what to do. THe only downside is that I have to change it back every time I record something. |
