Matrix Infinity Install Problem

I installed a Matrix Infinity Chip on a V6 and am unable to play any of my backups (ritek dvd+/-r media). When I boot up the system it goes to the System Browser screen. When I play an original PS2 game it boots fine but its the only time I see the PS logo with Infinity below it. All of my backups give me the Red Screen. Why does it always go to the System Browser screen ?

I've checked all my connections and they appear to be fine. Please help me try to figure out what i'm doing wrong

What software version (next to the Infinity Logo on boot) are you running?
Do you have a picture, and do all your connections meter out on a multimeter?

I'll tell you what to try. Download the 1.35fw for the chip at www.infinitymod.com

From there, follow the instructions in the .txt file to burn to CD. Then, take the disc and put it in the PS2. Put it back in standby, then hold the power button until the eject light comes up. The Infinity update should then boot right up. Without the backups loading, sounds like you have a homebrew version of the Infinity...

Thanks for responding Lufcfan!
If I remember correctly the software version said Infinity 1.2. I will double check when I get home from work. I purchased the chip at modchipman. I hope my solution is as easy as upgrading the firmware. Will let you know how I come out.

I do not have a multimeter to test the connections. If the fw upgrade doesnt work i'll look into getting one.

Thanks Again!

No problem. I had a similar problem, only I didn't get the Infinity logo. It still may be a simple case of upgrading the flash though. Try the method I gave you above and see - and if that doesn't work, check the points on the underside of the board (I believe those are B and I) :)

Problem fixed :D My SCEX & A connections were solder to the wrong sides (bad eyes) After fixing this PS2 boots fine and is now playing my backups. Thanks for all your help!

I've got allmost the same problem: I installd the chip, and it plays my original games well, but i won't play my backups, I don't get the infinity logo on boot to. But the strange thing is that the screen stays black when i remove the controller from port1
I think i've got the 'homebrew' version. But it won't even boot up the infinity manager it give me a red screen. My wires seems right: I checked it twice
so I don't know what to do anymore :(
I saw some pics of other people with the same chip and they used thicker wire for the 3.3v and the ground, It that absolute necessary? I will try the thicker wires tonight, but if someone got a better solution, that would be better
