Switching drives, have a question

I recently upgrade my hard drive and am passing on my old one, I just wanted to ask a couple questions.

My friend installed the slayer auto install and his c partition looks different than what I have. First theres no back up files like I have and other missing things so I wasn't sure what to do. So should I just copy his c partition then put it on the drive I am giving him? Is there any helpful suggestions would be fine. We tried hooking it up directly but it seems some things will load while others won't any ideas would be great.

Do you have the xbox live dashboard?

The original xbox dash has the files spread across C, the xbl dash has the files in subfolders. That could explain the difference.
Also, slayers installs alternative dashboards to the HDD if you select to, so he might have avalaunch and evox while you might not have anything except the original dash.

If your xbox boots fine with the chip off, then you shouldn't need to change anything, unless it is adding something.

Hmmm, so does that mean I can copy his c partition onto the drive from my xbox and since he does use evox just copy the original evox.ini that should basically work. I didn't know if the slayer did the back up of those files that I did when I first modded my xbox. The wierd thing was it seemed to play tha last 4 games I had put on there but none of the rest.

Thanks for the reply, and nice being back after a awhile.

Oh yeah never tried booting the xbox with the chip off good idea

you can completely copy his C partition. Xbox Dashboards should be compatible with 1.0-1.5 version xbox's. Someone told me that 1.6 xbox's have been protected to not boot older dashboard versions (with the chip off), but I can not verify that at all.

You must copy the evox.xbe along with the evox.ini file.
