xbox softmodding question
 

hi. i had an alladin adv. modchip in my xbox, but my xbox fell off its stand, and the modchip broke:eek: (but my xbox, fortunately, is fine:D ). i dont really wanna buy another modchip, and i have everything that i need for softmodding my xbox( early version of MA[non-platinum hits], AR, and i just finished putting a savegame with evox together[ya ya evox is dead, but i still use it;) ] ) i have integrated the evox into the savegame. i was going to soft mod it today, but then i saw on xbscene that the crystal xboxes would not accept the ma hack. now, if i understand correctly, the crystal boxes were a v1.4. my regular xbox is a 1.5!!! does this mean that my xbox will not accept the MA hack? will something bad happen to my xbox? please answer this

Ya the Crystal Packs were v1.4s, and you can softmod them. As for your v1.5 I dont know. I'm not a softmod kinda person. What I would do is buy another chip. Safer, and cheaper assumeing you screw up the softmod.

oh u can soft mod crystal boxes? i thought it said u couldnt at xbscene.com today. maybe i was confused lol

o and btw have you guys tried that web browser for xbox called linksboks? i just got it off xbins yesterday, and it looked pretty cool, but i was wondering if it actually worked

what i would do is just get a non solder mod installed it will save u alot of bother and maybe an xbox if ur not lucky

I'm 99.99% sure a Crystal Pack can be softmodded. All the ones I imported seem to be v1.4s. And I know the Halo XBoxes can be softmodded and most of them are v1.4s as well.

Any way, go with a chip. It really will save alot of time and problems.

k i think im gonna get the XBIT. from what i hear it kicks ass. but my friend still wants to soft mod his, and he has the bundled mechasault that came with xblive starter kit. will anything bad happen to his box if he loads the MA hack with his bundled MA game? cuz if sumthing will happen, ill just give him my *very* old version of MA(way before platinum hits), as i will be getting a modchip.

Nothing "Bad" will happen to your friends Xbox, except he won't be able to use Live anymore.

XBITs are nice ya, unless you can solder, then go for a X2 or something.

wait, u mean with softmodding you cant use live?!?!?! i have to go tell him that!


Edit: wait, i just checked, and you can go on live with a soft mod. its just that u cant go on live with MECHINSTALLER. im not using mechinstaller, as me and him both didnt want linux. we were just gonna use the normal MA with pheonix bios loader v1.3.5 hack, no audio or font or bert and ernie exploit or mechinstalller with linux ****. thats the stuff you cant go live with. you can still go on live with the normal one (mechassault with evox), unless you actually have the save game loaded up at the time you go on live.

he was just worried that something bad would happen to his box because he was loading it up with the bundled version of mechassault, which, like the platinum hits version, is *supposedly* patched. i just wanted to know if it really is patched, and if so, what will happen if it comes in contact with a hacked save game.

It would probably just make it so that you can't install the hacked game save.
It can't (as far as i know) do anything to your xbox (i.e. delete the bios that you loaded.) It might be able to delete the hacked game save but, i don't know for sure.

hmm ya u were rite. he just tried, and it saif save game couldnt be loaded. ill have to give him my old version tomorrow (dam, i hadnt beaten it yet, either:))

i would tell ur friend 2 get a non solder he aint gonna like using that all the time.
