Alcohol and Starforce question

Why does Alcohol 120 (Latest version) have a Starforce 3 option? Can you mount a virtual image with a nocd crack and run the game? Thanks

Why you don't just try it out ???

well you can make an image but it won't play without a crack.DPM measure but with some recorders only.

I traded my Trackmania at Gamestation. I was never able to install it or play it. That's why I can't try it out. I can't quite seem to grasp how this Starforce works. Is the protection in the installation, or the running of the game?. If install based then I have a solution. A few years back, all Westwood games would protect the install Exe, so to make a backup you needed a fixed play exe and a fixed Install exe as well. Before this was available, I would copy the game destination folders, and use a registry program to detect the registry changes after install from the original disks, and save the changes. I no longer needed to install the game from the originals. I copied the saved destination folders, and inserted the registry values for the game. The fixed play exe was still required, but the install problem was fixed. It is similar to using Norton Ghost, but just for the game data. I wonder if this method could be applied to Starforce3 games? After all, I'm not interested in copying the game from other sources, just backing up my investment. The registry save trick may not always work, as some values may be dependent on particular hardware, but in my experience they're often quite generic. All I'm after is a way to protect my investment on the original game, and don't care how much PxxxING about I have to do to achieve it. The Starforce3 developers state that this protection is simply a way of keeping game sales high during the first 3-4 weeks of release, and isn't that secure. They could have fooled me!
