No red standby light after modding
 

Have installed an M2 1.33b into a version 5. It works fine but now don't get a red light when ps2 is in standby. Have stripped console down. Ribbon looks as new, connected in solidly at both ends.

Anyone else seen this problem?

Maybe the red part of the light burned out?

I have never heard of that problem. The red light is just a surface mounted LED. LED's rarely burn out but anything is possible. If you have another PS2 maybe you could swap the switch to see it it’s the switch or the PS2 that is causing the problem.
