Write Error
I have an NEC DVD-RW 1300A. Used CloneDVD and DVDXCopy platinum to try and burn a copy of my video. Small video - about 3G - well under the 4+ GbLimit. (Have AnyDVD 3.2.0.1 running as well)
I get the write error "writing to Video DVD was not successful: DVD write error ( WriteDVD9) A DVD write error has occurred, probably caused by bad medium. Please replace the medium and try again." or "UDF 5 65536" I have tried, Pine, TDK & Imation - all with the same error. However, if I just write Data to the DVD, I can write 4.6GB to any of these DVD's. Any suggestions?? TIA |
Is your burner set as master? Does the error come up immediately when you try to burn?
|
It's set up as a secondary slave with a Reg CD player as secondary master.
It burns about 1/4 of the DVD, then craps out - same place everytime, any kind of DVD. |
Switch your cd-rom and dvd burner. Your burner should be master. Report back your results with this new setup.

i have the same dvd writer, and am having the same problem - how do you see if the dvd writer is set as master, and how do you change it?
|
that must have been it - I switched the drives and have made 2 perfectly good DVD's - thanks so much!!!!
If this is the case, why wouldn't "they" have built the PC this way - geesh. |
Your bios settings should tell you what is master and what is slave - then you can swap the cables and/or jumpers if necessary.
While I was at it, I also updated the firmware from 1.05 to 1.08. HTH |
Your very welcome. Don't know why they would set a cd-rom as master and the burner as slave. DVD burner manufacturers even recommend setting it as master when installing.
|
That can't be the problem with my dvd writer - it's already set up as the secondary master.
Thanks anyway! |
you might want to upgrade the bios while you are at it, I upgraded from 1.05 to 1.08 - that might help
|
Did that - works fine now!
Thank You! |
Excellent - very good news - you're very welcome
