loading music files to xbox

hey guys im having some trouble ftping music files to my xbox using flasxp. i find this strange sense its pretty straight forward procedure. the folder in which i wanna store my music files is e:/music/recordings/. do u think i have to make a new folder to store my music files. i have tried using different formats of music thinking that would solve the problem, but had no luck. whenever i try to drag and drop my music file from my pc to the xbox it says file failed to transfer.

theres a program called... uhh xbox soundtrack editor
its easiest to send the files through there

also im having a hard time sending avi files and mpg files through ftping from pc to xbox. is there a software like soundtrack editor but for movies?

AXmichigan 09-01-2004 15:44

no prob
yup
all u needa do is connect to ur xbox using that and send the wma's over... cuz thats all the xbox reads really for audio format.. at least for audio cds..
...
about ur movies.. theres nothin like that for movies cuz the xbox itself shouldnt be able to play avis and mpegs with its base microsoft bios
just find a directory u like, ftp the movies and use xbmp to view em
thats all u can do

frequency 09-01-2004 15:59

i have evox and xbmp but everytime i try to ftp a movie file from my pc to a xbox directory using flashxp, i always get a message saying sayin file failed to transfer. it seems pretty strange to me. i cant even dump a dvd-r fillled with mp3's using the option record in the xbmp screen. when i first tried to ftp some ogg music files from my pc to my xbox using flashxp it worked for the first three song files and then it stopped ftping all of a sudden. i put the songs in the e:/music/recordings/ directory. i tried many other directories but none of them proved to solve this issue.

well, if it has the gtoup, and the song title, then it might be because of the length. I think the xbox only supports some 32 characters in names.

thanx quall999 u just saved my day again...haha :D all of the music files that i have been uploading had more than 32 characters and once i shranked them down and tried to upload them again...guess what it worked :). i would of nother guess of shrinking down the files' names. thanx again quall999.

Also some carrectors like , are not supported, there is a program that can rename, shorten and take all the illegal carrectors out ready for transfer to ur xbox

AXmichigan 10-01-2004 07:10

yea about those filenames
when i first started doin movies to my xbox, iwas like.. NO! not again!
then i was like.. hmm this name seems a bit long, lets just cut it down alot.. after i realized that, i was ecstatic
and filled my xbox hdd with 90 gigs of videos... which is now back on my comp of course cuz xbox's are mainly for games... and all
8)

i think a person gets more ecstatic when they figured out for themselves that they have fixed their own problem :D . but as for me on this problem i would of been ecstatic either way...haha :) it seems like im always learning more and more things on this xbox which has me going crazy, but in a good way :)
