Backing Up Xbox Games
 

Ok..I made the transition to Xbox now after some time with the PS2 consoles. While PS2 uses CDRWin and other burning software to backup PS2 games what does Xbox use? I'm also reading about this Evox..do i need this also or can i backup a xbox dvd with software like recordnow? Can i just place an xbox dvd into my pc and backup it up using recordnow? I want to make copies in case my originals get scratched up. Any help would be appreciated.

you will need evox to connect to your xbox via FTP. unlike PS2 backups that you can do 1:1, you will need to use the xbox's dvd drive for this process in conjunction with the FTP to back up you originals. there are several option for handling the backup once you have it on your PC. read "the ultimate xbox newbie guide" sticky at the top of this forum. it will answer most of you ?'s. also i think people prefer record now max when dealing with xbox games.

yep that's correct. however new games have the media check. to get around this install the x2 4977 bios on to you'r chip but if you can not just use a tool called iso craxtion to patch the .xbe files prior to burning.

p.s before people go all postal and complain. isocraxtion does not use any microsoft copyrited components so it should be safe to post the location here. if the mods do disagree with me just remove the address

Hello LepPper, I emailed you a while back and told you in some detail that Craxtion does not patch any xbe's other than the ones inside the main directory.

I havent gotten any response from you. I understand that maybe this is no need for major concern but I was just wondering if you got my email.

I am pretty sure I got the e-mail. Sorry for not responding but I have that in my list of things to do. Got a lot of stuff I am working on right now but I try to answer all e-mails (over 50 a day).

No need for apologies, I just wanted to make sure you got word of it. Because I know at least on Project Gotham 2, and you just delete those 100mb a piece dummy files and want to check out the game preview section the xbe'x there have media checks.

tell me if it's worth making a transition from Ps2 to Xbox?
Is the Xbox better than the Ps2?
I have both Ps2 and Gamecube and wondering if i should get an Xbox aswell?

I like both consoles. I really cant say if graphics are better on either side. They both do very well graphics-wise.

You can do a lot of things with the Xbox though.

Not with an original game. You can backup a backup but there is no need to.

With an original game you need to FTP it to your pc.
