TAGES protection

have a look at the official tages site:

http://www.tagesprotection.com/hacker.htm

Tages-devs also watched this forum :)

But I don't think that Empire is liking that FileForums is called a 'hackers-site'

TylerDurden 11-10-2003 09:55

Hackers?? Us???

LOL sure whatever they say.

Tyler!

TippeX 11-10-2003 09:57

its just marketing propaganda, if they actually checked the forums they would have realised that motoracer 3 was cracked, as was robocop (both tages titles).. so perhaps empire should mention that when writing them an email telling them off for calling gcw a 'hacker site' ;)

ByteMare 11-10-2003 12:03

Impossible? *pfff* ;) Sure, keep on dreaming...

themis_t 11-10-2003 15:55

there is always a way out of somewhere...you just have to find the one who is going to "create" the path..

From what I've gathered, Tagès is an incredibly easy protection to BURN - any writer that can write in RAW+16 mode can pull it off.

The problem with Tagès is making the right DUMP - and that's another matter. Tagès uses modified Q-subchannels in a method called "twin-sectors" or twinpeaks, making the reader think that there two different sectors are identical. This very technique is used to imitate Securom 4.8xx disks (which do NOT have twin peaks, but do have sector density variations)! So in a way, the advent of Tagès has been of great help in defeating other copy-protection schemes...:D

The only reason why Tagès can't be correctly read is because no CD-copying software developpers have bothered modifying their software to that effect, since there are very few games that have it, if not just one - Motoracer3, european version.

Semper idem, sed aliter

JoyBoy 12-10-2003 03:10

Heh...

cdkiller 12-10-2003 06:27

if they are watching the forum, they should read this thread ;)

like TippEx said, tages protected games were already cracked...

themis_t 12-10-2003 14:48

they watch but they wont post this up to their site...this will ruin their so well created and undefetable protection's reputation...

podunkviller 13-10-2003 23:55

just like westwood posting greets to people within their stuff.

they'd have to troll for a long time in order to find those kinds of quotes. thank goodness for blackcheck :D

ByteMare 14-10-2003 22:54

Must be JoWoot!... the only guys that thinks that smacking a game full with "protective ****" (Armadillo, Securom triggers, SVKP etc) will make it hard to crack...well, nice theory, but it also bitches
with original....my copy refused to even install = money back!

If they can't make it working, then don't blame crackers for giving the public a chance to play the games!;)

themis_t 15-10-2003 13:31

would you ever blame someone that has been trying to harm you and finally he makes you feel beter?

krondike 18-10-2003 14:58
