Sony Network Adaptor

Chaps

I was thinking of putting something up on my site about the Sony Network Adaptor, like an FAQ/walkthrough on setup & connection etc.

Being from the UK, I haven't had much exposure to it as it was only released last week :) (and I haven't been into town to buy one yet  :)

Has anybody got any tips, links or custom made tutorials that they would mind sharing with me ?

Cheers
Paul

Oh, and does anyone know why the Network adaptor has the letters 'HDD' scribbled on the side? Is the Hard Drive built in to the N.A.? Any help would be very much appreciated...

To: lufcfan,
here is the exact words from network adaptor manual about HDD letters :
"The network adaptor is marked with the letters "HDD" to indicate that it can be used in conjunction with the internal hard disk drive ( for playstation2) ( sold separately).Internal hard disk drive release date to be determined."
if you check your N.A. there are IDE and power socket for HDD at back of N.A.
Here is a usefull information about ps2 HDD.

In fact, the drive adapter is VERY CLOSE to a regular IDE drive. I predict that when the drive is released here, someone will discover the format pretty quick, and allow people to use their own drives in the machine.

The pins are IDE... the power plug is in the wrong place to put in an IDE drive, but 5 minutes with a soldering iron says otherwise. :)

To:Gurm,
I have US network adaptor and fitted perfectly on my maxtor harddisks and only I need a utility to format it :)
I don't know what you mean "the power plug is in the wrong place to put in an IDE drive, but 5 minutes with a soldering iron says otherwise" because the sockets position are standard.
anyway guys at ps2ownz.com are working on the utility and they got good result.

khafan,

Good to hear it. The model I had seen did NOT fit exactly on an IDE drive. :( The plug was 1.5cm too far from the ribbon plug. I hope there aren't multiple versions... or that I'm misremembering.
