Neo 2.2 Capacitor And Resistor

Well, I know that neo 2.2 will burn the laser of my ps2. I have 3 questions:
1. If I use the neo only for playing psx backups, psx originals and ps2 originals, does the neo still burn my laser?????

2. Is there any way to prevent 100% the problem with the laser??
or to prevent at least 50%

3. I read somewhere that I can use a capacitor and a resistor to fix the problem, But I don't know the value of the capacitor and the value of the resistor; Can anybody tell me these values??

SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH, I'M NOT FROM USA

Answer:

1. Yes the Neo will still harm your laser regardless of what backup games you play on it....

2. No.... You cannot prevent the damage 100%..... You can slow down the damage...

3. Yes..... Installing the capacitor/resistor will SLOW down the damage it will do to your PS2 BUT it will not PREVENT it..... It will only slow it down....

I'm not 100% sure about the values, but I will do some looking and see what I can find about them...

Edit: The value of everything I found on it is:

1uf capacitor

Only using the PS2 for CD copies and PSX/PS2 originals... will still wreck your laser, just a teensy bit slower.

Now, on the Neo2.5+DVD, the damage seems to happen MUCH slower if that's all you use it for (my laser is still in top-notch condition despite a year or more of moderate use for PSX copies and PS2 CD copies and DVD originals).

But seriously - if you're willing to open the box up and solder in resistors and capacitors... just spend a few bucks and get a new chip, huh?

fitted with capacitors and if u got a good laser u should be ok

but i still recomend a messiah

i had v4 with neo2 plus capicotor ,1 year later i swapped it for messia1,1 1/2 years later ps2 still works dvdr will only read better brands ,thats a total of 2 1/2 years and the laser still ok

ps others have killed there laser in a few months only

1uf capacitor is a must

Yes, definitely. The old maxim YMMV applies here:

Your

Mileage

May

Vary.

Basically you COULD stretch things out, but then again you might be unlucky, have a particularly crap laser, and burn it in a week. Who knows?

If it were me, instead of spending $10 on parts and an hour fiddling with it, I'd spend $25 on a nice shiny new chip (Apple, for example) and an hour fiddling with it... since lasers are pricey.
