ripping for the first time. .

Okay. . .I figured out how to use bbrip to rip my GD rom to my computer. My first game of choice was ooga booga. So, I'm sitting here with track03.iso (916,018KB), track04.raw (1,381KB) and track05.iso (91,080KB).

Obviously, it's too big to fit on a single 80 min CD.

I know there are ways to downsize, but I can't seem to make heads or tails of the tutorials and the information I have read.

Basically, I've figured that somehow I need to be able to extract the oversized files from the ISO, downsample them and then add them back to the ISO.

So, my question is how would I go about doing this? I can't figure out how to find and extract the offending files in the ISO in the first place. . .

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!

There are a ton of FAQs out there. Nobody has time to hold your hand through the whole process. But here is a very quick rundown.

isofix 45000
isobuster
downsample as necessary
selfboot (hack3 + binhack + mkisofs)
burn

Quick tip: leave LBA at 45000 unless you need the space.

For GD-ROMs with CDDA such as that one (although it's probably just the warning track) you will either have to use extract as comes with the toolkit and remember the LBA, or you will have to join the first and last ISO files together with padding in the middle so that the total size adds up to 1032499200. THEN you can use isofix

I'd greatly appreciate if you could contribute towards the Sorttxt Project. Information here

I am a veteran ripper, so if you have SPECIFIC questions - ask me. I've also written a huge number of tools which you will find on my website.

Please do not expect me to explain everything, as 1) I don't have time or patience and 2) learning is half the fun!

Incidently, Ooga Booga has custom protection. You will not get it to work, so it's best just to forget that one (though do send me a sort!)

Good luck.

Thanks for the info-some if it will come in handy, I'm sure. I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out myself. . .I may be a newbie to GDROM ripping, but I'm fairly adept with a computer and the right tools to hack with.

That said, I know that there's a way to rip ooga booga and then burn it to a CD as a self booting dreamcast game. I know this because I've seen it a few times on Kazaa (never had a successful download, unfortunately. . .that's why I'm trying to copy it myself) and secondly, every jerk out there hocking "dreamcast backups" has it. (and I don't think they're touting the actual disc)

Sooooooooooo. .. if anyone has any more optimistic news out there for me, I'd love to hear it. I know there's a way.

PS: what tools would I use to join the first and last ISOs along with the blank info in the middle?

Erm, that's because Echelon cracked it... they have members who know SH4 assembly. Your version won't work.

I just used newfile and copy /b - until I made my own tool, but I don't feel like releasing that just yet (it's very specific to my setup).
