n00b needs memory card help****911
Hi,
I'm a pc gamer and new to psx. I bought a console on ebay cheap and thought I'd give it a try, as the games for the PC have real crap lately ie:, UT2k3 and Unreal II. I also bought a 32mb memory card, but the instructions don't tell me how to "Format" the card so I can't use it. I tried to erase function but it didn't help. IT has small "LED" alpha/numeric and two buttons on the face. Any help would be greatly appreciated......... Thanx, Jeff in LA.   |
Is it the first playstation edition or playstation 2?
I have the first edition with 3 8mb cards. The cards i use formated automaticly when i checked it in memory section and changed blocks (hold select button, then push L1 & R1). This might be an solution. Although, beware of these cards, they can format automaticly sometimes even with saves on it... |
Hi Amelek,
Thanx for your reply it is appreciated. Like I said I'm a n00b. I put the card in and it led lights up. I select a block and "F" flashes, I assumed that meant "format" but when I boot to a game it says "no memory card in slot 1" I had a mod installed, could this be the problem? thanx, Jeff in LA.   |
No problemo! :D
The F is for failure. That means that something has locked the card on that block. Some gamesaves do this im affraid. I don't think it's because of the chip, cause i have a chip to. ;) I use to solve this by backup one save at a time on another card to finaly get the card to function again. Very irritating. If you can't solve the problem at all, then return the damn card and get a new to try. Don't think i can help you more than this im affraid. :( Hope you'll get it to work. Have phun :D |
This is exactly why it is best to stick to official Sony cards.
