ps2 back up problems

I am using a pioneer 105 with primo and have downloaded the update so primo will recognise the drive. The back ups i am creating seem to be burning ok.
When i have tried the discs in my ps2 (version 4, with magic 3 installed) the screen would either go to the dvd options or to the 'incorrect disc' screen.
the cd-r's i have backed up are working fine, as are the originals (ps1 and ps2 games), i have also cleaned the lazer.
The media i have used. Verbatim datalifeplus, Datasafe (unbranded) and Mirror( £3 each !).
Is it possible that there could be an error with my install of the magic 3, which would effect the loading of ps2 back ups while the ps1 back ups are ok, or is it the media i am using, or my computer ( 733mhz,128ram,6 gig spare), or or or

You may find that your laser is on its way out.....

If your PS2 originals (dvd based games) play fine BUT your dvd backups don't..... I would suspect the laser.... (That is providing you are backing them up the correct way.)

Reply to Mandownthepub -The dick who installed the magic 3 was me !!! (With a mig welder and a lump hammer no doubt !). No seriously all the solder points and any adjacent points were all repeatedly checked with a multimeter and all were ok. Quality work. Do you think that the magic three is that unreliable not to boot a disc at least once in say 50 trys.
Sorry no sale (Not yet anyway).

Reply to BG -Where can i get more info on lazer replacement or realignment????

Try searching this forum... Use Charlie_PS2 as the name and search for laser or something of that nature...
Charlie_PS2 has done an extensive post on this subject... If I find it, I'll post the link for you....
